In order to support every student’s professional prospects after graduation, we o er opportunities to work with and audition for various national and international theatre companies and agents. We frequently host guest artists and workshops with nationally/internationally renowned actors, directors, choreographers, dramaturgs, designers, producers, and playwrights. Our season consists of six mainstage productions—four plays and two musicals—and one musical for young audiences produced in collaboration with Youth Theatre at the U.* Many other opportunities are available through the department, including the New Play Workshop, senior projects, student productions, and faculty-guided projects with university funding and support. Students can also gain professional experience as undergrads by working with theatre companies in and around Salt Lake City, including Pioneer Theatre

ON-CAMPUS JOBS & APPRENTICESHIPS

Youth Theatre at the U is an arts education program that provides engaging, challenging theatre experiences for K-12 students year-round. Paid internships, design contracts, and other employment opportunities are available for students who are skilled and interested in design, education, performance, and more.

Pioneer Theatre Company is the resident professional theatre on the University of Utah campus. Each year, quali ed students are selected by Karen Azenberg (Artistic Director), in collaboration with Department of Theatre faculty, to work as o cial apprentices in PTC’s mainstage season. This partnership allows students to apprentice at one of the nation’s most respected regional theatres as they prepare for professional careers.

Our BFA Theatre Teaching students also have access to a unique four-year professional program that prepares them to teach theatre in a variety of environments while allowing them to graduate as fully licensed theatre educators. 99% of Arts Education graduates from the University of Utah secure a teaching position for the next school year before graduating.

SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID

Finding the right scholarships for you and managing your applications can be frustrating, so we’ve tried to make it as easy as possible. For incoming freshmen, it’s as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Apply to the University of Utah by December 1, 2022

You’ll automatically be considered for the university’s meritbased scholarships—no additional application necessary!

2. Fill out a General Scholarship Application

This connects you with the university’s scholarship system so you can nd scholarships and track your applications. Once you complete this step, the system can automatically recommend any additional scholarships you qualify for!

3. Submit your FAFSA before February 1, 2023

Qualifying* Utah residents who meet the application and FAFSA deadlines will automatically be considered for the For Utah scholarship
