Presto: Addison Goan Sunday, I. Andante: Annalise Wood Some days, you just keep asking yourself, “what day is it again?” as you move through the motions in a week. In my piece, I wanted to explore one’s thoughts and feelings when experiencing each day of the week and investigate how those feelings may differ from person to person. It’s interesting how one small event or inconvenience can completely alter how we experience one week. A special thank you to my cast for their willingness, efforts, and humor. I hope you enjoy this emotional rollercoaster and feel free to laugh (or cry) along!

Isn’t it Romantic?

This piece reflects on themes of female idealization often present in romantic era ballets.

Bringing Down the Light is an ethereal journey on the path of attaining divinity within oneself through ritual dance.

Throughout millennia, dance has been used in a supernatural way to cause change: change in environment and change in oneself. In Bringing Down the Light, the beings presented on stage are begging an audience with the divine, in an attempt to unify with divinity itself.

Yang This piece is inspired by my international travels this summer and the differences in culture I observed compared to what I grew up with here in the United States.

United tells a story of identity in collectivist and individualist cultures, and the general benefits and drawbacks of each. When one thing is gained, something else is always lost…but must it be that way? Special thanks to my amazing husband who composed and recorded the music for my piece.

A Moment in the Grove Choreography: Brianne Corbridge Music: “Grove Grooves” by Brianne Corbridge Lighting Design: Emily Bertelli Costume Design: Clover Kelly Dancers: Anouk Haffner, Amrita Jade, Edie Clark, Jensen Rasmussen, Mackenna Bonner, Mckenna Stenemen, Sophie O’Brien We are observers of just a moment in the grand lifespan of the world around us. One of my favorite places to observe is a few miles up Logan Canyon. Tony Grove Lake is full of striking details - from erosion patterns, to flitting dragonflies, charming beavers, and even to man’s modification of the grove.

This piece explores the way nature behaves on its own, and how it heals after people exploit its resources. My goal is to inspire audiences to go outside and look for the ordinarily remarkable patterns that shape our landscapes. Thank you to my dancers for their uplifting energy and sincere efforts, and to my mentors, friends, and family who encouraged and advised me as I composed and choreographed.

“Prepare”: Dakota King “Open Up”: Manami Kawai (11/17, 11/19), Sarah Rinderknecht (11/18) Corps de Ballet: Mackenna Bonner, Addison Goan, Ada Gouse, Manami Kawai, Natalie Montoya, Jensen Rasmussen, Sarah Rinderknecht This piece depicts the ebb and flow of an infradian rhythm, or a cycle that is more than 24 hours in length.In our society, we are very aware of the circadian rhythms that govern our daily lives, but the infradian cycle that affects half the population is often forgotten or ignored. The characterization of each phase as presented here is strongly inspired by female biochemistry and the thoughts of Alisa Vitti in her book “In The Flo.” Special thanks to the nine amazing women in this work, who are at once beautiful, resilient, insightful, playful, nurturing, introspective, passionate, spontaneous, and strong. Girls rule :).

“Growth begins when we accept our weakness” - J. Vanier Throughout life everyone goes through phases of change and growth. When one feels stuck and isolated we have to step out of our comfort zone to get the outcome and happiness we individually want. I played with ideas of mental and physical isolation, showing acceptance in this situation, and moving into growth and change to create their own happiness while still staying true to themselves.
