These routines are unique to each of us. Some have a negative restricting effect on us, while others are comforting and keep us sane. I want to thank my beautiful dancers for embracing this work and making it their own.
Monophobia Choreography: Zephan Holt Music: “TREE” by Ólafur Arnalds Lighting Design: Cole Adams Costume Design: Rachel Hayes Dancers: Tess Bernstein, Annie Clifford, Makayla Larsen, Kendall MacMillan, Emily Marsh Monophobia is the fear of being alone, which is what inspired this piece. “Monophobia” tells the story of an individual slowly getting over their fear of interaction and becoming part of a group. I wanted to tell this story because I have struggled with social anxiety in the past, and I wanted to share how I felt as I struggled with this issue. I also
want to thank my dancers for all of the effort they have put into this piece, none of this would have been possible without them. They have helped me tell my story, while also expressing themselves through the movement. I hope you enjoy seeing this story as told by their movement.

As a UkrainianAmerican, I began to define what Ukrainian traditional dance means to me, as I created a piece with elements of Ukrainian folk dance, character dance, and Ballet. I would love to thank my amazing cast, Melissa Bobick, and Syzokryli dance ensemble for all of their amazing work and guidance.

A duet danced by a man and a woman may first bring to mind a hetero-romantic relationship, but I’d like to challenge you, the viewer, to view this work under a platonic lens. A huge thank you to my dancers for your hard work and beautiful dancing. It has been an honor to create this with you.

I began with an exploration of gestures, eye contact, and selective physical proximity. Starting with unsure actions and questioning movements, it then builds into complete trust; the intimacy and assurance of falling with the knowledge of having someone to catch you.

An unclear sense of identity can bring feelings of isolation and disorientation, but how might we be able to push

Held Here Choreography: Makenna Ferre Music: “Doing the Wrong Thing” by Kaki King and “Up and Over” by Makenna Ferre Lighting Design: Cole Adams Costume Design: Rachel Hayes Dancers: Haylie Decamara, Lilly Hammons, Aubrie Nield Holman, Dakota King, Raquel Miller, Rebecca Schenk, Kiana Yusefzadeh The inspiration for my piece, Held Here, originated from the common human experience of having a dream or a goal, wanting to achieve it, but feeling held back by self-doubt and fear. The first movement of this piece is meant to showcase those feelings of confusion and fear. However, by pushing through that doubt, there is nothing better than growing through those fears and letting yourself achieve what you want to do. The second movement of the piece portrays a level of growth and relief that is achieved when you push yourself through that fear and allow yourself to accomplish what you truly want to. This story parallels my own experience of growing out of my own fears that held me back from releasing music. The second piece of music that I use in my piece is one of my original songs, “Up and Over,” which describes a similar circumstance about letting go and overcoming something that no longer serves you. I would like to thank my dancers for being so open to explore this process with me and turning my ideas into a work of art.
