Whether your child goes on to study at a college and/or career training program, their LEAF account can be the start of that savings plan. It can also be “in addition” to savings plans that you have already started.

Saving for your child’s dreams after high school graduation doesn’t have to be a fairy tale. Your child’s saving story has already begun.

Did you know: Starting in 2019, LEAF (Lapeer County Education Attainment Fund) began providing a Children’s Savings account for every student starting their elementary journey in Lapeer County?

Your child’s LEAF account is a deposit-only savings account, ready to be used once they graduate from high school and make plans for their next step in training and education. Money deposited, plus interest and earned incentive dollars, can be used for educational expenses.

Even today there are ways you can increase your child’s LEAF savings account: 1. Have your child participate in school deposit days 2. Open the LEAF Parent Portal for an additional deposit incentive 3. Have your child participate in all LEAF incentive opportunities 4. Consider setting up a Direct Deposit (of any amount) for a $20 incentive
