We have campus tours, library tours and guided walks to the city throughout the day. This is a great opportunity to speak to current students while getting to know our city and university.

With talks, tours and drop-in sessions taking place throughout our Open Day, there's plenty to do! Explore our campus, tour our facilities and view our accommodation. You can also meet our support teams and visit the Students’ Union, Library and Sports Centre. If you need a pit stop, head to our Westminster Cafe 2 , Dining Hall 21 , Binks Grab and Go 8 or Seaborne Library 7 for refreshments. The day is yours, but here are some key things to do to make the most of your visit to Chester!

Campus Tours
Take a closer look at Exton Park on a studentled campus tour. Tours depart regularly opposite Seaborne Library (map reference 7 ).
Tours will be running regularly from 9:3015:00 and take up to 60 minutes.
Guided walk into the City
First time in Chester? Join one of our guided city walks happening throughout the day. It’s a great chance to get tips on the best spots for food and drink, and to learn more about student life in the city.

Food and Drink
Chester’s streets are lined with cuisines from around the globe, mixing well-known favourites in with independent eateries. There are hidden foodie gems down side streets and in the new Chester Market on Northgate Street (see map on back page).
Historic Sights
Chester is steeped in history, and you’ll find historical treasures throughout the city – the impressive Cathedral, the iconic Eastgate Clock, the black and white Rows and the Roman Gardens. Walking the Roman walls is a great way to explore and get some incredible views over the city.

High street favourites, designer boutiques, independent gems – Chester has everything you need when it comes to shopping. As well as the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, a stroll through some of Chester’s hidden streets uncovers a host of unexpected independent shops, music venues and galleries.

Throughout the year Chester is host to a wide range of events for you to enjoy!
Chester Pride
A colourful celebration hosted within Chester city centre which aims to celebrate, empower and support the LGBTQ+ community. Chester Pride will be returning on 16th August 2025.
Chester Races
Held at the oldest racecourse in the world, Chester Races have been running for over 480 years!
Christmas Parade and Markets
Chester hosts its ‘Seven Days of Chirstmas’ parade every year, and has one of the best Christmas markets around.
Theatre in the Park
For the last few summers, Grosvenor Park has been host to a temporary theatre with a variety of shows to enjoy.
Festival of Ideas
Taking place in July, the Festival of Ideas is a programme of free public events on a wide range of themes, co-created by staff and students at the University.
