Finding your Place

Embarking on your university journey can feel like a whirlwind, especially when moving to study in a new country!
That’s why we’re here to provide guidance on how you can live, study, and feel at home at a university where you will not only belong but thrive. This guide will provide you with information on all things accommodation, as well as useful information if you’re considering commuting to the University of Chester.
All University accommodation is conveniently located either on-site or very close by, helping you to make the most of your university experience. Our Residential Life Team is here to help you settle in and will be a friendly point of help and advice.
Applications are now open
We’re now welcoming applications for accommodation for Autumn 2025. Please see the how to apply section overleaf. Please note that the priority application deadline for this intake is the 21st July 2025.
University accommodation is guaranteed for all new undergraduate international students whose accommodation application forms are received by the stated deadlines for our September intake.
Whilst postgraduate students can apply for university accommodation, the majority of our properties are prioritised for our undergraduate students and therefore, we only have a small number of rooms available for Postgraduate applicants. Due to this, we recommend that Postgraduate students seek privatesector accommodation where possible.
How to Apply:
Step 1. Visit our website.
Visit the accommodation application page on our website. accommodation.chester.ac.uk/apply
You will need your Student ID number, which you will find in the letter accompanying this guide.
Step 2. Select your preferred accommodation.
The application form will ask you to select your preferred accommodation type, such as quiet accommodation, single-sex accommodation or alcoholfree accommodation.
After this, you’ll have to select your room preferences and rank your preferred room type from one to eight. It is also a good idea to have a budget in mind and prioritise accordingly when making your selection.
Please apply even if you miss the deadline or have chosen Chester as your Insurance choice.
Step 3. Confirm your choices.
Check over the information provided, amend as necessary, and then click ‘confirm’.
Step 4. Pay your deposit.
Once your application has been received and the priority deadline has passed, we will send you details of your allocation (this will be around late July/ August time).
At the point of offer, you will be sent details of the full terms and conditions of the accommodation offer made. Applicants will be asked to pay a deposit of £250* to secure the room – this will later be returned as a deduction from your final term’s rent.
*Payments, terms, and processes will be slightly different from those referred to partner accommodation, you will be contacted by the university and our partners in the event of any referral.
