I have been exploring the relationshiop between people and thier pets. I have asked them questions as part of a survey to get to know what thier relationship and the pets characteristics by the stories they have told me.

Is this your first pet?
No this is not my first pet. Before Gladys I had two rabbits and then I had fish. Gladys means the world to me.

What does your pets mean to you?
Georgina
My Dogs are like family, although they can’t talk, they are caring. They are always looking out for my nieces and nephews when they’re around and always comforting them or making sure they’re ok whenever they are upset or hurt. I love them both.

They’re my world, they’re my babbies and they don’t give back chat either. Paddy never leaves my side, not even when I’m ill. On the other hand Willow is a little terror but I still love her no matter what.

What made you have snakes has your pet?
My brother got one as a kid and I wanted one too. We ended up breeding them for a while so we got another couple. We stopped breeding them after a couple of times. My brother got rid of his two and we kept both of the boys.

What makes Teddy angry?
Teddy mainly gets angry at the postman and loud noises such as the hoover every time when we want to clean up.

Is this your first pet?
Being in my own house yes. However growing up with my mum we had many of pets such as, cats, dogs, rats, chipmunks, snake, African gray parrots, budges, bearded dragon, fish and many others. But has you can see the list goes on and on.

Rachel Wooodward & rescue Hedgehogs
Why do you rescue wild animals?
Hedgehogs are an endangered species and so many of them end up at a rescue centre due to injury and sickness. The rescue centre then becomes bed blocked as they cant be released until they are over 600g for their survival and some due to injury are in rescue a long time. The rescue relies on fosterers for ones that are nearly better but not ready for release or ones that need to be kept over winter. I've learnt so much about these little beauties from how to look after them, pick them up and care for them. My youngest son has also got involved by volunteering at the rescue to clean out pens and feed and weigh them and this has built his confidence loads. I now help to raise awareness for them on how to build hog houses to getting people to check their gardens before strimming grass.

What’s the funniest thing has Poppy ever done?
Poppy likes to squeeze into the tiniest beds and spaces , she get easily gets stuck in. Also, she can’t yoga but can’t do it very well and does it at odd times of the day.

What’s the funniest thing your cats have ever done?
I have two cats named Tigs and Patches. They are both bonkers. Patches sniffed Tigs bum once and looked disgusted by it. Also there was a time Tigs was playing with a ball of paper and batting it around, it went near Patches so Tigs pounced on it and hit patch on the head with her paw as she went past and carried on playing with the ball of paper. It was too quick for Patches to react too it.

Due to the lockdown situation have you noticed a changed in your animals behaviour?
I have notice a little bit of change. They have been sleeping a lot more than they usually do and been a lot more clingy.

What’s your favourite walk with Bruce?
Just on our local field as he constantly runs about like a bunny rabbit (he doesn’t run like a normal dog he bounces like a bunny) with a grin on his face. It’s the only place he does this so I can really tell how much he enjoys it.

Dwight gets angry when I don’t give her enough attention but is genuinely happy until she is left alone.

Where is your favourite walk and why?
Favourite walk has to be Marbury Oark, there’s trails through trees, big fields, a lake and it
links to a lot of places in Northwich so its easy to get too. Perfect for for when its warm weather.

What does your pet love to do?
The two I sent are pets we have had for many years. Phoebee loves sitting on my shoulder, and biting my necklace. An alert bird, she sounds off loudly if anything unusual happens.
Bonded to Meredith, she tolerates me if I give her treats.

How many pets do you have?
Cameron
I have six pets all togther. Two dogs, two cats, a lizard and a rabbit. The dogs names are Poppy and Sophie, cats are Bustard and Marley, Spike the lizard and Flopsy the rabbit. They are all family and I love coming home from university to see their faces.

They are like my babbies, as they keep me entertained now my children are both grown and away at university.

Due to the lockdown situation have you notice a change in your animals behaviour?
Yes I have, they’re a lot more calm and happy I think that’s because we’re all home though.
They’re quite happy laying on us all day.
