With strong links to local healthcare providers and community organisations as well as passionate and dedicated staff, our students benefit from practical, hands-on learning, ensuring they are well-equipped to launch rewarding careers that impact lives and transform communities.
We hope you leave today feeling informed and ready to embark on the exciting journey that awaits you here with us at the University of Chester.

Where You’ll Study
Whether you’re visiting the Wheeler Building, Exton Park, or both, we encourage you to engage with our vibrant community of staff and students, explore our state-of-the-art facilities, and immerse yourself in the energy of a place that’s committed to inspiring and supporting your next steps.
Exton Park
The historic Exton Park is where our story began, offering a wide range of courses since opening its doors in 1839. Today you’ll find a variety of academic Schools, some fantastic teaching and learning facilities and plenty to keep you entertained. It’s situated only a 10-minute walk from the city centre and provides a friendly, secure and supportive environment in which to live and study.

Wheeler
With opportunities to gain hands-on experience across all our specialist vocational courses in health, medicine, law and policing, Wheeler is all about putting theory into practice using specialist, subject-specific facilities. Overlooking the River Dee, the Wheeler building is located within the lively city centre of Chester.

Whichever subject area you’re interested in pursuing, you will have access to fantastic facilities in a buzzing city that is rich in culture.
After my classes, I really enjoy taking a scenic walk along the river or across the city walls – it’s very peaceful!

Explore Chester
Be sure to visit the city centre if you can. Take a look at our top picks for your Applicant Day visit and see why Chester is a place you could one day call home.

Storyhouse
Food and Drink
Chester’s streets are lined with cuisine from around the world, mixing well known favourites such as Knoops café, in with independent eateries. There are hidden foodie gems down side streets, and in the New Chester Market on Northgate Street.
Next to Chester Market and opposite Gateway House is Storyhouse – a cultural centre containing two state-of-the-art theatres, a cinema, library, restaurant and two bars. It’s a great place to stop for a coffee and see where you could be hanging out with friends.

Chester is a beautiful historical city and its heritage, hidden gems, safety and lovely people played a key role in my decision to study at the University of Chester.

Shopping
High street favourites, designer boutiques, independent gems - Chester has everything you need when it comes to shopping. As well as the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, a stroll through some of Chester’s hidden streets uncovers a host of unexpected independent shops, music venues and galleries.
Historic Sights
Chester is steeped in history, and you’ll find historical treasures throughout the city – the impressive Cathedral, the iconic Eastgate Clock, the black and white Rows and the Roman Gardens. Walking the Roman walls is a great way to explore and get some incredible views over the city.

Nightlife
Chester’s nightlife ranges from quirky bars to historic pubs and clubs. There’s live music, creative cocktails and student discounts abound! Chester’s thriving night-time economy has also earned it ‘Purple Flag’ status as a safe, student-friendly city.
