The last three years of Medical School have been amazing and I can't wait for you all to have the same experience! I completely understand it can all seem a bit daunting, but don't forget you worked hard for your place here and are going to do great as medical students. Here is some advice from me as you start your first year at the University of Birmingham. Makesureto attend theMedSoc Revision Seriesbeforeyour exams. Theseare lectures delivered byolder year students who havepassed themodule and can giveyou a good insight asto what to expect.

Trynot to compare yourself to otherstoo much- if not thedreaded 'Imposter Syndrome' will creep its wayin!Everyonehastheir own wayof learning, workingand revising, so don't bealarmed if your wayof doingthingsisn't thesameasyour friends. By all meansseekadvice and help when you need it, but besureto appreciateyour methodswill bejust as good assomeone else'stoo.

From hockeyto acting, you won't beshort of a societyto join- why not tryout a different societiesto discover moreof what MedSoc isabout?Gettinginvolved isoneof thebest waysto meet new peopleand reallyfeel likeyou are part of theMedSoccommunity. Sign up at Freshers' Fair to anythingthat takesyour fancyto get a feel of what each societyentails, then decidewhat you would like to carryon from there. Everythingisgreat fun! Get to know your medic family(especiallyyour parents)!They will have experienced what you areabout to and will be happyto giveguidance.

Don't beafraid to email your lecturers if you havequestions/need help. They arepassionateabout their subjectsand will want to sharetheir knowledgewith you asmuch astheycan.

Makethemost of all thelearningspaces available, not onlyat theMedical School, but also on campus!From themain libraryto the Doug, you won't beshort of areasto do work in.
