The original series ran on MYSTERY! in the early 90s and starred Michael Gambon. In our new version, Benjamin Wainwright (Belgravia: The Next Chapter) stars as Jules Maigret, who heads the elite police unit known as La Crim, responsible for investigating all serious crimes in and around Paris.
Speaking of crime shows, right after MAIGRET, we get THE GOLD on MASTERPIECE. Based on the true story of one of the largest robberies in British history with a starstudded cast including Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) and Dominic Cooper (Sense & Sensibility, Mamma Mia).
AMERICAN EXPERIENCE will present a two-part special on Henry Kissinger. According to biographer Robert Schulzinger, "Kissinger seizes the imagination because he engineered the most significant turning point in United States foreign policy since the beginning of the cold war."
Saturday nights are for music, this month’s AUSTIN CITY LIMITS guests include Finneas, The Marias, and Charlie Crockett just to name a few.

Longtime supporters embrace all the area has to offer including Milwaukee PBS
This Month we highlight long-time members who reap the rewards of living in this large metropolitan area while giving back to the community. My husband John and I are lifelong Wisconsinites. We currently reside in St. Francis, which is a short, easy drive across the Hoan Bridge into the city where our lives are enriched by an assortment of music, in person classes through UWM’s Osher Life Long Learning program, live theater venues, and restaurants galore. We’re never lacking for pleasant outdoor ventures. Stunning Lake Michigan and a few of Milwaukee’s award-winning county parks are at our doorstep. Here, we especially enjoy forested hiking, and, biking on the Oak Leaf multipurpose Trail. It’s our perfect place!
At home, our constant is Milwaukee PBS. As soon as the monthly, membership Fine Tuning magazine arrives in the mail, we eagerly page through it. Unfailingly, there is a compelling array of new, quality programs. Our favorites focus on nature, travel, historical documentaries and dramas, and mysteries. Proven, old favorites, HAPPY YOGA at 7:30AM and the 6PM PBS NEWS HOUR are mainstays in our daily routine. The first, a healthy way to stretch and start the day and, the second, a way to wind it down with fact-based news.
While we reap the rewards of living in this large metropolitan area, we also strongly advocate giving back to our community. John found his niche as a tutor in a Milwaukee Public Schools K- 5 classroom while I promote and register voters for the League of Women Voters. Together, we enthusiastically support Milwaukee PBS with our dollars.

Witness How Animals Adapt to a Changing World
New episodes of NATURE reveal the hidden lives of animal parents, big cats, walruses, pigeons, elephants and more!
From the concrete jungle of New York City to the tropical jungles in Costa Rica, witness never-before-seen animal behavior in a new season of television's premiere natural history series NATURE.
Wednesdays, beginning October 22 at 7PM on Channel 10.1 and on the PBS App.
Season 44 opens with WALRUS: LIFE ON THIN ICE, which follows a paleontologist on an Arctic adventure to uncover the hidden lives of walruses and the threats they face as climate change shrinks the sea ice. THE PIGEON HUSTLE uncovers the secret world of New York and London’s feral pigeon flocks, and in JAGUAR BEACH, two unlikely species collide with spectacular consequences. Sir David Attenborough narrates PARENTHOOD, a five-part miniseries on animal parenting. The season culminates in a two-part special on chimpanzees, called MATRIARCH, featuring Dr. Jane Goodall and her sixty years of chimp research.
“With every story this season, we hope viewers rediscover the awe of the natural world and admire the adaptability of these species,” said Fred Kaufman, executive producer for NATURE. “The triumphs and
trials of the animal kingdom offer a lens to reflect on our own lives as we also learn to acclimate within an ever-changing world.”
Led by executive producer Fred Kaufman, Nature pioneered a television genre that is now widely emulated in the broadcast industry, bringing the natural world to millions of viewers. Consistently among the mostwatched primetime series on PBS, NATURE continues to innovate through original digital programming and a commitment to converting viewers into doers. The series has won more than 800 honors from the television industry, the international wildlife film communities and environmental organizations, including 21 Emmys and three Peabodys. NATURE received two of the wildlife film industry’s highest honors: the Christopher Parsons Outstanding Achievement Award given by the Wildscreen Festival, and the Grand Teton Award given by the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival. The International Wildlife Film Festival honored Kaufman with its Lifetime Achievement Award for Media.

Milwaukee PBS Gets a WICKED Night of Support
Members of Milwaukee PBS and the talented north American tour cast of WICKED came together August 6th at Milwaukee’s Marcus Center for the Performing Arts for a one-of-a-kind night to support public television in southeast Wisconsin.
Attendees were treated to box seats for the Wednesday night performance of WICKED and immediately following the show were welcomed into a a private reception with the cast in the Marcus Center’s Donor Lounge. The cast autographed show posters for the attendees as well.
Proceeds from the sale of the tickets support the local programming of Milwaukee PBS. The event raised $19,600.
The reception opened with a lively question and answer segment featuring five members
of the company, including the music director, Faith Seetoo. Following this, the cast did a roll call, introducing themselves, the role they play in the production and how long they have been touring with the show.
Karen and Joel Huffman (Milwaukee PBS members since 1995) celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary that night by attending with their daughter.
“Knowing all that is happening right now with public media and the loss of federal funding for Milwaukee PBS, it felt good to make this a part of our family celebration and to give our daughter this memory.”
Donna Devine (Milwaukee PBS member since 1982) saw WICKED for the first time. “WICKED was so entertaining and meeting the cast was a treat. I had a totally delightful time.”
Ethan Kirschbaum (Fiyero) and Zoe Jensen (Glinda) enjoyed the reception.
