Thenew Health ScienceCollaborative(HSC),a project of theSchool of Health & Kinesiology (H&K),isa transformational opportunitynot only to advancetheschool intothefuturebut alsoto changethewaypeopleseeand accesstheUNO campus
Originating froma vision in theunderutilized squash and racquetball corridor of theHealth & KinesiologyBuilding,thisinitiativeaimsto revolutionizetheschool byproviding advanced research facilities,innovativeteaching spaces, and community-focused engagement areas
Slated for an official grand opening in Spring 2025,theHealth ScienceCollaborativeis nearing completion
Oncefinished,theHealth ScienceCollaborative will encompassapproximately30,000 square feet of renovated space, housing state-of-the-art laboratoriessupporting research in Exerciseand Vascular Physiology,Physical and Intellectual Disabilities,SportsMedicineand Biomechanics, EarlyChildhood Development, and Sexual and ReproductiveHealth.
Thisinitiativeemphasizesstudent-centered research,preparing futureclinicians,researchers, and practitioners H&Kfaculty, renowned for their expertisein STEM, publichealth,and the healthcarefields,will guidestudentsthrough experiential learning and research.
Current projectsincludecollaborationswith theDepartment of Defense, NIH-funded health research,and partnershipswith the National StrategicResearch Instituteand a growing number of communityorganizations Theseeffortsenhancethecapacityfor securing external funding and provide invaluablehands-on experiencefor students.
