Know that pain is a part of life. Know it is here for your growth. Be the direct pressure that is applied to the wound and keep chasing your dreams.

To my daughters, I love you more than anything in this world. You are my inspiration that defines my hard work and loyalty. Without you, sunlight is a waste. One day you will be adults living on your own and there may be days where I will not be there to tend to your tears. It is a great fear as a father to even imagine what you will go through in this life, the mistakes you will make, the hurt you will endure, the times where I cannot help you when you need it most. Especially if you are not happy with who you are. My daughters please know that even flowers need the dark clouds and strong winds to bring the rain and grow.

This world can be cruel in the most unimaginable ways, it will eat you alive if you let it. Do not be afraid! Do not be afraid to fail, failing means you are trying. Learn from it and try again and you try again, and you try again. As painful and impossible it may seem, keep going forward. Crawl if you must. Just never stop moving forward. No matter what, you hold onto your dreams, your talents, your gifts, and never lose sight of them. You give them life; your actions are the beats of their hearts. Be the queen on the chessboard, then the world. Do not wait for change, be the change.

You will meet people that will not accept you and not understand you. They will tell you that you cannot do it. They will say it is too hard and impossible. You tell them you can do it and yes, it is hard. But your impossible means “I’m possible.” Remember hard work is a disguise for opportunity. You command your commitment, use fear as fuel, and if you must run against the wind, then do it! People that give up, stop trying, and complain have a flat world in their hearts. Not you: You look up at those stars and make your own constellations. Find your north star, and cease it. Make your own path! When you fail, when you fall, which you will and remember the light. If you cannot see the light, then be the light and try again!

Always remember breathing is as important as your dreams. So, do not waste another sunrise on being someone you are not. Knowing who you are not, is just as important as knowing who you are. But speaking of who you are then you will stay as you are but speaking of who you will become, and you will become. Too much focus on your back up plan will distract you from your main plan! Risk everything for your dreams without fear, without regret, and without self-doubt.

As your father, I need to know above all else that you are happy. That you are happy with yourself, happy with your dreams, happy with the people around you, and happy without doubt. That you did everything you could to accomplish your dreams. When you’re there on top of your mountain looking around smiling, tending to your wounds, taking a breath, and notice a new north star. You smile because you found a new mountain to climb!
