Ashley’s journey in dance began at a young age, competing at the junior and amateur levels before turning professional. At just 22, she won her first national championship. Despite her impressive success, her focus has always extended beyond trophies. For Ashley, dance is about more than winning. “My journey as a dancer has always been about the joy of movement, the discipline of practice, and the connection you build with your partner and audience ”

When preparing dancers for competition season, Ashley emphasizes the importance of kindness and self-compassion. "The first thing I tell my students is to be kind to themselves and to others. Kindness creates a positive environment where everyone can thrive Dance is tough, but it’s even tougher when you’re harsh on yourself ”
Ashley also highlights the importance of self-trust. "You have to trust in your teachers and, most importantly, in yourself. It’s easy to doubt your abilities when you’re in the thick of competition season, but self-belief is what gets you through those challenging moments."
Her final tip for dancers? Enjoy the process. "Have fun! Enjoy every moment. Time flies so quickly, and before you know it, the competition is over. Savor the journey "

At Unleash the Rhythm, Ashley aims to inspire dancers to embrace their individual journeys. "Through my teaching, I want dancers to learn to love themselves more and be patient with their growth. Trying a new style or learning something different can be difficult, but if they approach it with kindness and an open mind, they’ll find so much reward in the challenge."

The Balance Between Growth and Rest
While her students continue to grow, Ashley makes sure she’s evolving as well “The key to staying inspired as an artist and educator is rest I’ve experienced burnout multiple times in my career, and there were even moments when I thought about quitting. That’s why I emphasize balance so much making time for things outside of dance keeps me refreshed and creative.”
She believes that a healthy mindset is crucial for a longlasting career. “I always tell my dancers that a healthy mindset is the foundation for a successful and longlasting career.”
Dream Collaborations
Ashley’s journey as a dancer has been filled with unforgettable moments, but one dream collaboration stands out.
If she could choose anyone to share the stage with, it would be Ricky Martin “I would love to do a Bolero or Cha Cha duet with him His energy and passion are infectious, and I think we’d create something truly magical.”

The Journey to Ballroom Success
Her love for dance wasn’t always a certainty. “Believe it or not, I grew up wanting to play football. I was the only girl in my family and wanted to do what my brother and older cousins were doing. When my parents said no to tackle football, they enrolled me in a local dance studio.” It wasn’t love at first sight for Ashley, who struggled to find a style that resonated with her. But that all changed when she was introduced to ballroom dancing “Everything clicked, and I knew this was what I wanted to pursue My parents saw my passion and quickly sought private coaches for me.”
From that point on, Ashley’s rise in the world of ballroom dancing was meteoric. Competing at the junior and amateur levels before turning professional, she won her first national championship at just 22.
A Quote to Live By
Ashley carries a deeply meaningful quote with her one she shares with her students: “Fear is a liar ‘For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and a sound mind’” (2 Timothy 1:7). This powerful reminder guides her through life’s challenges. “Fear is often the only thing standing in the way of greatness. If we can push past that, there’s nothing we can’t achieve.”

Ashley’s journey is built on resilience, faith, and an unrelenting passion for dance, but she’s quick to recognize the people who have supported her along the way "I wouldn’t be where I am today without my parents, who gave me the greatest gift of dance and always supported my dreams. My husband is my rock his love and encouragement inspire me every day. I also want to thank my high school dance teacher, Ms. Gerri, who saw something in me when I didn’t see it in myself. Lastly, I thank God for blessing me with this life and keeping me healthy and able to do what I love.”
