Assisted in preparing drawings, furniture contract packages and finish boards for upcoming and ongoing projects. THE HERB HOUSE Fall 2022 3rd Year Studio Instructor: Emily Drummy Abstract:
The goal of this project is to create a biophilic interior environment through means of preservation, restoration and connectivity. This reimagined interior will become a hub for collaboration, exploration and healthy living. It will promote inclusivity and provide a culturally rich environment and accessibility for all. Members of the community will be encouraged to participate and explore through various methods and activities related to food. The existing building will be restored and serve as the framework for the public market while maintaining the characteristics of the Historic Haymarket. Herbs will be grown year-round in the greenhouse that will nourish the community through the programmatic spaces below. Kiosks will provide short-term rentals for small local businesses as a trial run for a leasing option within the market. The materials chosen for this interior promote biophilic design as they are environmentally friendly. The various programs within this structure produce a market for the community to become more intuned with nature and healthy living.

SOAK STEAM DREAM Spring 2022 2nd Year Studio Instructor: Nathan Bicak Abstract:
The objective of this project was to reimagine an abandoned slaughterhouse known as Ex Mattatoio and create a modern bath house. The design and material selection has created a holistic atmosphere. Upon entering people are greeted with an inviting reception area with ample seating on both sides. Beyond the reception desk people can travel up to the café for a refreshment before or after they have enjoyed the amenities this bath house features. From the main level guests can descend on either side of the structure to enter the restrooms where the showers are located. Past the restrooms there are four saunas divided by a cold bath with two hot baths beyond. Making the way back up to the ground level another cold bath is located outside the large sauna. On the second level the lane pool floats above featuring a glass bottom directly above the café. This allows for more light to flood the front of the interior. A living ceiling has been placed beneath the lane pool to create a sense of lightness while enhancing the acoustics of the space.

PORTABLE CLASSROOM Fall 2022 3rd Year Studio Instructor: Emily Drummy Abstract:
This project aims to connect children with nature through the methods of growing, harvesting and cooking with plants and herbs. From seed to kitchen, children will be able to develop an understanding of how nature nourishes our bodies and how humans can start to give back by developing a personal relationship with nature. This will be accomplished through play, exploration and art. Using sustainable materials, solar panels and a hydroponic system in the greenhouse students will develop a better appreciation for nature. Height adjustable furniture will assist in active learning for all ages. Earthy colors used for materials will help children stay connected to nature while in this built environment. The south-facing curtain wall system that connects to the greenhouse will promote learning within the adjacent classroom. Keeping an open layout will ensure the connectivity and safety of the students. The flex zone located within the greenhouse will provide a more quiet and private space for children to explore plants, play and read books on the climbing frame.

THE BIOCENTRIC Spring 2023 3rd Year Studio Instructor: Emily Drummy Abstract:
The goal of this project is to convert an office building in a downtown urban environment into multi-family housing. These apartments include several levels dedicated to professionals and independent living seniors. Each level of apartments will include one ADA accessible unit as well as a hearingimpaired accessible unit. Various amenities will be incorporated such as a library bar, cafe, and rooftop that is open to the public. The library bar, Secret Stacks, will provide tenants and the public with an area to relax, socialize, read, and/or work. Three sections within Secret Stacks will provide ample seating for these various activities. Other amentities for the residents include a gym, spa, salon, and pool. These apartments will support local shops and businesses within a walkable distance. Nature will be embodied throughout the interior of the structure to support the well-being of the tenants and community. This will be accomplished through the use of natural materials and interior elements that evoke the five senses to create an exciting yet relaxing environment. Fireplaces have been placed in each unit as well as the community spaces to create emphasis in each space that express the warm and calming effects of nature.
