Hello, River Heritage Club members! Spring is in the air, filling our European sailings with colorful blooms. It’s such a treat to get to experience limited-time events like these, made all the more special for their rarity. In that spirit, we’re diving into our Themed and Limited-Edition Cruises, which are only available for a few special departures every year. In some cases, our Limited-Edition cruises are even a one-time-only opportunity!
For our Themed and Limited-Edition trips, we go the extra mile. That means more inclusions, for starters, and more onboard experiences we can offer. We even often throw in some Masterpiece Collection experiences, typically arranged at an additional fee, as complimentary excursions. This issue covers some of our most highly anticipated themed offerings for the year, including our upcoming Women-Only Cruise in Burgundy & Provence, a music-forward sailing of the Danube, and our Premium Golf Package in Bordeaux.
Happy reading,

FLOATING BOUTIQUE HOTELS
Nobody does river ships like Uniworld. What sets our fleet apart is the unique character of our ships, each a work of art in their own right. When we design a ship, we imbue it with the spirit of its destination, fill it with custom fabrics and furnishings, and deck its walls with enough fine art to merit calling them museums on the water. So, when we tell you we have no less than four new ships coming in 2026 and 2027, you know to expect the incredible!
LAUNCHING IN
2027
We can’t reveal the names or designs just yet... but get ready to welcome a new ship in Portugal’s Douro River Valley and two new ships in Central Europe. Stay tuned for more to come!
LAUNCHING IN
2026
We can’t wait for you all to see the S.S. Emilie in person. This gorgeous new ship, set to sail Central Europe next year, was inspired by the gilded portraits of famous Austrian painter Gustav Klimt, and the avant garde patterns of his muse, Emilie Flöge, a successful fashion designer.

THE ULTIMATE GIRLS’ TRIP
We can’t wait for August 24, when we set out on our first-ever river cruise itinerary designed exclusively for women, by women. If you’ve been following along, you know that this itinerary promises to be something special, with a curated mix of wellness, indulgence, exploration, and so much fun. But what does it take to build a LimitedEdition cruise like this one?
It starts with falling in love with a destination. That means being on the ground, meeting the vendors, testing each experience to make sure it’ll wow
our guests. We think this is crucial, and something our guests recognize on tour: our passion for the communities we visit. We want you to leave a trip feeling like you didn’t just see a destination, you engaged with it on a personal level.
For our Women-Only Cruise, our team has thoughtfully designed experiences that balance relaxation, discovery, and excitement. Whether guests want to unwind at the spa, enjoy a fine wine with new friends, or take part in cultural deep dives, this cruise offers something for every woman.
Onshore, guests can look forward to a scenic bike ride to the Chartreuse of Villeneuve, a wine tasting in Beaujolais, and much more. One of the highlights is a Nights Out visit to the Roman Aqueduct in Nîmes for a beautiful light show. It will definitely be a memorable evening.
Onboard, we’ll have sunrise yoga and two massage therapists. Guests will learn to weave lavender wands with a wonderful local vendor, do a wine and chocolate pairing with Valrhona, and craft their own scent with a local perfumer. We'll even have a burlesque workshop with an instructor, plus a hair and makeup team. Additionally, we’ll host cocktail hours, events, and a theme night where guests can connect and celebrate together.
CELEBRITY GUEST: RACHEL DRATCH
The acclaimed comedian, writer, and actress, best known for her tenure on Saturday Night Live, will join us onboard for a stand-up comedy performance and Q&A, exclusively for our guests.
“We are beyond excited to welcome the incredibly talented and hilarious Rachel Dratch aboard our special Women-Only Cruise. This cruise is all about bringing women together to share new experiences, create friendships and enjoy plenty of laughter along the way. Rachel is the perfect fit for what promises to be an unforgettable trip, and I’m looking forward to being onboard to host her and all of our guests on this sailing.”

your questions about
Golfing in Bordeaux
Golfers who love to travel have hit the proverbial jackpot. There truly are few better ways to take your passions abroad. Beautiful courses around the world are just waiting to be the highlight of your next trip, offering a niche introduction to new destinations that speaks to your passion for the game. Because course design is often so deeply intertwined with the local environment, destination golf is a fantastic way to enjoy an immersive vacation.
Our Premium Golf Package add-on is available on just six dates of our Brilliant Bordeaux itinerary this summer. Keep reading for answers to some of our most frequently asked questions!
DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN CLUBS?
If you are most comfortable using your own clubs, you are encouraged to bring them! We’ve arranged storage on the S.S. Bon Voyage to accommodate it. Otherwise, you will be able to rent clubs to use at an additional cost of approximately €45 per course. Don’t worry about having to carry your clubs around or pay for caddy service either, we’re including a shared golf cart for every two players.
WILL MY TEE TIME BE ARRANGED FOR ME?
Yes, tee times have been pre-arranged for our guests and split into four groups for the smoothest pacing. We’ve also secured range balls if you’d like to practice your swing at the driving range.
DO I NEED TO BE AN EXPERT TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM?
Not at all! This cruise was designed to accommodate seasoned players and new enthusiasts alike. You’ll find that the two courses we’ll be playing at—Cabot Bordeaux and Grand Saint-Émilionnais—were designed to appeal to a range of playing styles. Newcomers can take advantage of easier routing options, while players who’d like to challenge themselves will have fun with obstacles and routing that tempts high-risk strategies.
WILL I BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OTHER EXCURSIONS OFFERED ON BRILLIANT BORDEAUX?
Golfers participating in the program will skip the Day 2 (Médoc) and Day 5 (St. Émilion) excursions. Besides those exceptions, you’ll be able to enjoy all other inclusions and excursions available as part of our Brilliant Bordeaux cruise.
HOW DO THE INCLUDED LUNCHES WORK?
For each 18-hole round of golf, you’ll have a meal included at one of the restaurants on the property. You’ll have an open reservation, so you can walk in whenever you finish your game.
DOES EVERYONE ON MY BOOKING HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM AND PAY THE FEE?
No, the $899 USD per person fee only applies for guests interested in participating in the program. If you are traveling with friends, family, or a partner who isn’t interested in golfing, they can skip the fee and participate in the other experiences offered regularly on the itinerary.
CAN I BOOK JUST ONE OF THE GOLF EXCURSIONS SEPARATELY?
No, the Premium Golf Package is only bookable as a single package with both golf excursion days.

SAUERKRAUT CASSEROLE
INGREDIENTS
2 lbs sauerkraut (well-drained)
1 lb pork shoulder or pork belly, cut into chunks or minced
7 oz ham, sliced into thin strips (optional)
3 tbsps cooking oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 tsp paprika
2 tsps dried thyme
2-3 bay leaves
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 cup cooked rice
2 smoked sausages, sliced or chopped
1 1/4 cups sour cream
2 eggs
Fresh parsley, chopped
DIRECTIONS
1. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the pork chunks or mince to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides. Add the sliced ham if using and cook for another 5 minutes.
2. Sprinkle paprika over the meat mixture and stir it to coat evenly. Add thyme, bay leaves, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the tomato paste. Let everything cook for another 2-3 minutes.
3. Preheat the oven to 350° F. In a large casserole dish, begin by spreading a layer of sauerkraut on the bottom. Follow with a layer of the smoked sausages, meat mixture, then a layer of cooked rice. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of sauerkraut on top.
4. In a bowl, whisk together the sour cream and eggs. Pour this mixture over the top layer of sauerkraut, spreading it evenly across the surface.
5. Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour. After 1 hour, remove the foil and bake for another 20-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
6. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley for a pop of color and added freshness.
DID YOU KNOW:
What many consider a quintessential German "superfood," sauerkraut, has been a constant in the German diet since the early 17th century, even leading to the playful "Kraut" label. However, this "sour cabbage," as the German words imply, has a surprising history: it was first created by Mongolian nomads and shares a significant culinary history with both the French/Alsatian region and Ireland.
