OUR VENETIAN EXPERIENCE WITH UNIWORLD By Michael Embarking on our second visit to Venice, we were apprehensive after a previous trip filled with overcrowding and frustration. However, our Uniworld experience transformed our perception of this remarkable city. Uniworld’s prime docking spots provided easy access to central Venice, without the usual crowds. Exclusive early visits to historic sites like the Doge’s Palace showcased the city’s beauty before the masses arrived. Cruising the lagoon and exploring interconnected islands like Murano and Burano unveiled the diverse and captivating aspects of Venice. Uniworld’s well-rounded itinerary extended beyond Venice, including a visit to the stunning Castello del Catajo and a trip to the town of Vicenza. Russell Watson’s presence onboard heightened our excitement, and his private question and answer session offered personal insights into his life and career. The highlight of our Uniworld journey was undoubtedly the private concert by Russell Watson performed at Scuola Grande deli Carmini. With a repertoire spanning opera classics and modern favourites, his performance resonated throughout the venue, creating a breathtakingly beautiful sound. MY VENETIAN EXPERIENCE WITH UNIWORLD By Lesley Wow!! My solo journey with Uniworld on the first cruise of the season aboard S.S. La Venezia to Venice & the Jewels of Veneto was absolutely mind-blowing! From the moment I called the office to book the cruise until the day of disembarkation, everything exceeded my wildest expectations. The planning and logistics were flawlessly organised, even amidst challenges like cancelled flights and strikes just two days prior. Uniworld went above and beyond to ensure I made it to my dream destination, and I’m incredibly grateful for their dedication. Every single staff member onboard was exceptional, no matter their role. They took care of me in every imaginable way, anticipating my needs and going the extra mile to make me feel valued. The level of service was outstanding, and I truly felt like royalty throughout my journey. The staff were not only professional but also friendly, making me feel at home from the moment I stepped onboard. The quality of the food and drinks was simply excellent, with a wide array of choices to suit every palate. I indulged in delectable culinary delights, savouring each bite. And the comfort of my cabin was exceptional, providing a cosy sanctuary to relax and rejuvenate after a day of incredible adventures. I was delighted by the thoughtful surprises that awaited me in my cabin, like little presents after a night of fantastic entertainment-whether it was an opera performance, dancing, or a fun quiz. These little touches made my experience even more memorable. Of course, the highlight of the trip was the absolute marvel that is Venice! But there was something even more special in store for us. On a particular day, a small group of us had the privilege of participating in a private question and answer session with none other than Russell Watson himself on the ship. Russell and his wife Louise were so down-to-earth and easy to talk to, and hearing the story of his career and journey to becoming the phenomenal performer he is today was absolutely fascinating. And as if that weren’t enough, the following day he graced us with his enchanting voice in a breathtaking iconic building. I sat just a few feet away, and the sheer emotion in the room was overwhelming, bringing tears of joy to my eyes. It was a moment that touched my soul and will forever be etched in my memory. In fact, I was so impressed with Uniworld’s exceptional service and attention to detail that I have already booked another adventure with them. As a solo traveller, I appreciate how they take care of us by offering reduced or no supplements. It’s a safe and organised way to travel, and the opportunity to meet new friends along the way is an added bonus. DAY 1: Basel (Embark) Upon arrival to EuroAirport Basel-MulhouseFreiburg, a Uniworld representative will greet you and transfer you to board your Super Ship – your elegant and welcoming home for the next seven nights. DAY 2: Basel, Breisach Breisach is your gateway to the Alsatian wine road and your launching point for an excursion along the celebrated Route des Vins, which hugs the foothills of the Vosges mountain range. This morning, enjoy leisure time as you sail the scenic Upper Rhine to Breisach. This afternoon, guests can opt to join a tour of beautiful Alsation villages, ending in a town so pretty it is regularly ranked amongst the most beautiful in France. DAY 3: Strasbourg See Strasbourg on foot with an insightful local expert, where this historic town with its cobbled lanes, half-timbered homes, giant stork nests, and impossible-to-resist pastry shops will win your heart. Kehl, directly across the river from Strasbourg, will be your ship’s base while you explore the Alsatian capital. If you’re feeling adventurous, take advantage of Uniworld’s bicycles or Nordic walking sticks and explore the banks of the river. You have the entire afternoon to see more of Strasbourg on your own.

DAY 4: Mannheim The Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany is known for its idyllic natural environment, rural charm, and expansive vineyards. Forge an authentic connection to this beloved area on one of two unique experiences, led by locals with unique passions. For your first option: meet an estate turning Palatinate winegrowing tradition on its head - where the vineyards don’t produce grapes for wine, but for specialty vinegar aperitifs. Here you may enjoy a sampling of the produce. At the other, visit a mill-turned-collector’s-museum, where you’ll find a fascinating collection of items from around the world and a gorgeous garden.
DAY 5: Rüdesheim Experience Germany’s fabled Rhine River in the town of Rüdesheim. DAY 6: Braubach, Koblenz, Cologne Get to know Koblenz, a historic town with a colourful past and eclectic architecture. As you come upon picture-perfect Koblenz, you’ll sail past Deutsches Eck (German Corner) with its historic monument to Kaiser Wilhelm I. Today’s optional excursions offer guests the chance to explore Koblenz on foot with free time to enjoy the Marktplatz (Market Square) and its bounty of shopping and wine bars. Another option many guests is enjoy is an immersive bike ride along the banks of the Rhine, head towards the castles of Stolzenfels and Lahneck for an incredible viewing point, and find another great view of the Marksburg shortly after.
