Get ready for a night of double the fun and none of the limits with Roll, Glow and Silent Disco — a first-of-itskind fusion of retro roller skating and high-energy silent dancing, right here at the University of Memphis! Tiger Cascade with a Twist, where you can lace up your skates and roll into a neon-lit, music-filled blast from the past. Grab your wireless headphones and choose your soundtrack from multiple music channels, each offering a different vibe. Surrounded by vibrant LED lights and glow-in-the-dark gear, you’ll dance like nobody’s watching (or listening). With live DJs spinning nostalgic throwbacks and modern hits, plus rental skates available on-site, everyone’s invited to join in — no experience needed! Prefer to keep it chill? 11 AM-1 PM The Walk: Bridge Your Future and the President’s Picnic Student Wellness Center

Join your fellow new Tigers for one of the most meaningful traditions at the University of Memphis! Gather at the Student Wellness Center and walk across the Hunter Harrison Memorial Bridge, a powerful symbol of your transition into college life, with faculty and staff cheering you on as you arrive.

After the Walk: Bridge Your Future, head to the Luther C. McClellan Alumni Mall for the President’s Picnic. This signature Tiger Welcome event brings the campus community together for food, fun and a warm Memphis welcome you won’t forget.

5:30-6:30 PM Mighty Sound of the South: Preview Show Memorial Field

Kick off your Tiger journey with the first Fight Song of the season! Join the University of Memphis Mighty Sound of the South Marching Band for a high-energy preview show and learn the chants, cheers and songs you’ll hear in the stadium all season long.

6:30-9 PM Frosh Frenzy Student Activities Plaza

Ready to be a Memphis Tiger? Frosh Frenzy is your moment! Join the University of Memphis for food trucks, music and big Tiger energy. Meet Memphis Athletics teams, learn the Tiger Spell Out and Tiger Stroll and kick off your college experience in style. Join in to be a part of the Class of 2030’s official class photo.

Friday, Aug. 21

6-10 PM Jurassic Paws: RecFest Student Wellness Center

Join us for the Jurassic Paws: RecFest at the Student Wellness Center! This exciting event is designed to help students connect with each other and UofM staff before the first day of class, providing a fun and relaxed atmosphere to ease any back-to-school anxiety.

Get ready for a Dino-sized RecFest and dive-in movie night inspired by Jurassic Park! We’ll have all the decorations and swag to transport you to the Jurassic era. The evening will kick off with the Pool Party and RecFest and feature several activities and prizes throughout the night as well as dinosaur photo ops and Jurassic fossil digs.

As the sun sets, we’ll screen “Jurassic Park” under the stars. Enjoy free pizza, popcorn and popsicles during the event while grooving to tunes from our DJ. Plus, the first 300 attendees will receive their very own Jurassic Paws T-shirt and commemorative button!

Saturday, Aug. 22

4-7 PM Memphis Volleyball vs Tennessee State UC Lawn/Elma Roane Fieldhouse

Women’s Volleyball is hosting a Back to School Bash on the UC Lawn as they take on Tennessee State. There will be tailgating, free food and games.

7-9:30 PM UC Takeover

Free pancake breakfast and coffee and opportunities to connect with our various faith groups on campus.

Learn your way around campus with the Frosh Camp team. Bring your class schedule to participate in a campus walking tour. Meet at the Bronze Tiger Statue for some grab-and-go snacks!

2:30-6:30 PM Self-Care Sunday Takeover University Center (UC)

Kick off the semester with Self-Care Sunday at the UC. Stop by the third floor to slow down, get creative and unwind with hands-on Relaxation Zone activities that help you reset before classes begin.

Start your Fall Semester with a splash at the annual Fountain Run! Head over to the Student Activities Plaza for a free MemPop and rally behind President Bill Hardgrave as he teams up with SGA leaders for their lively dash from the UC through the fountain. Feel the energy with the Mighty Sound of the South, the pom squad and cheerleaders. Be sure to grab a special giveaway before they run out.

Get ready for energy, unity and tradition as the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) brings the heat to Tiger Welcome with the NPHC Stroll-Off — one of the most anticipated events of the semester! Come witness Divine Nine organizations light up the stage with precision, passion and pride as they compete in an unforgettable night of strolling, stepping and synchronized movement. Each team brings their unique rhythm, style and history to life through powerful performances that showcase excellence and the vibrant culture of NPHC. Whether you’re repping your letters, supporting a friend or experiencing the tradition for the first time, this high-energy showcase will have you on your feet and in awe. Expect loud beats, bold moves and Tiger spirit at its best. Join us and celebrate the legacy, unity and power of NPHC at the University of Memphis. This is more than a competition, it’s a celebration of culture, community and campus pride! The On-Campus Opportunities Expo is a campus-wide event that connects students with University of Memphis departments that will be recruiting student workers and graduate assistants. 3-5 PM Fraternity and Sorority Life Meet and Greet Alumni Mall

Come meet new friends from various fraternities and sororities on campus! This is your chance to discover what fraternity and sorority life is really all about!

7-9:30 PM Bubble Soccer Alumni Mall

Step inside an inflatable bubble, team up with friends and get ready to bump, bounce and roll your way across the field in this hilarious twist on the classic game.

No skills required — just bring your competitive spirit and a sense of humor. Whether you’re playing or cheering from the sidelines, it’s the perfect way to meet new people, relieve stress and start the semester on a high note. Grab your friends and come ready to move. Don’t be afraid to fall (you’ll be bouncing right back up anyway)!

The Welcome Carnival introduces students to the library as a central hub for their academic journey. This event is a fun, low-barrier way for students to discover resources, connect with support services and learn how the library can support their success at the University of Memphis. Start the semester by making your mark — literally!

Join us for a hands-on “Full-Color Sign Shop” Welcome Event, where creativity meets comfort. Unleash your creativity with the Full-Color Sign Shop, where you can design a personalized street sign that’s truly one of a kind. Each participant gets to customize their sign by choosing their own text and background design, creating something that perfectly suits their personality or style. Whether it’s your name, a fun phrase or something meaningful to you, your sign will be uniquely yours.

5-8 PM Tiger Game Show: Finish the Lyrics Edition Rose Theatre

Think you know your music? It’s time to prove it!

Join the Student Activities Council (SAC) for the Tiger Game Show: Finish the Lyrics Edition, where your favorite songs meet friendly competition. From today’s biggest hits and throwback classics to R&B favorites and crowd singalongs, contestants will battle it out to see who can finish the lyrics before time runs out.

Whether you’re stepping on stage or cheering from the audience, everyone has a chance to get involved! Sing along, participate in audience challenges, win prizes and help crown the next Tiger Game Show Champion.
