University Research in 2014 In 2014, the University recently recorded its best yet result in the Research Excellence Framework We increased the proportion of staff submitted, introduced two new units of assessment in English Language and Literature and in Sports and Leisure All units submitted had evidence of world leading-research

What are we investing in University research?


Infrastructure Investment in research leaders for the future Six million pounds to be invested in areas of research strength and new areas of research aligned to our mission. Investment in current staff through new PhD studentships and research time The Research Hub Research Policy Unit, Project Support Office, research training, research student area “A one-stop-shop for research, researchers and research students in the centre of the University� Postgraduate research students New regulatory framework making engagement with overseas partners and part-time registration easier Overseas Doctoral Colleges to be developed with partners overseas Doctoral training partnerships with overseas HEIs


Postgraduate research students • New regulatory framework making engagement with overseas partners and part-time registration easier • Support between the International Centre and the RPU/Doctoral College to ease the application process and the transition to study either in country or in Wolverhampton • New research focused 1 year higher degrees at Masters level • Development of a MD (by research) programme within our newly founded Postgraduate Medical School • More opportunities to engage with Professional Doctorate programmes • Doctoral training partnerships with overseas HEIs to support a wider range of provision of in country opportunities for research degree study • Overseas Doctoral Colleges to be developed with partners overseas
