The Faculty currently has over 160 registered PhD students and the School of Architecture and Built Environment has one Research Centre and five Research Groups.

BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING FOR INTEGRATED CONSTRUCTION MSc, PG Cert

The aim of these courses is to equip students with high-level knowledge and understanding of processes, tools and techniques of implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM) in today’s global construction industry. Students will not only develop a comprehension of how the associated digital tools can be implemented through use of prevailing standards and protocols, but also how implementation can be managed within the business context of the architecture, engineering and construction sector.

WHY WOLVERHAMPTON? We support you with a wealth of experience and unique expertise as well as access to state-of-the-art technology facilities, including the dedicated BIM laboratory equipped with high specification computers, a 5m x 3m stereoscopic visualisation wall, HD 3D laser scanner, drones, virtual reality headsets and a large multitouch table for collaborative working.

We have enviable links with industry and software suppliers through research and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, and industry experts support your learning. Industry-based projects are set for assessment to give you a flavour of the real-world application of BIM.

HOW WILL THIS COURSE IMPROVE MY EMPLOYABILITY? Students who complete the MSc BIM will have a specific and relevant qualification in the field of BIM, which is currently of high importance for the industry.

We pride ourselves on a very high employability rate for our postgraduate students, with many award-holders becoming BIM coordinators, BIM managers, digital specialists and digital engineers. Potential employment opportunities for graduates include roles in architectural and interior design practices; civil engineering practices; local authorities; environmental management agencies; space-planning and office furniture companies; and design consultancies.

You will also be required to undertake a collaborative design project following the philosophy of BIM Level 2 and making use of relevant standards.

CIVIL AND STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING MSc, PG Cert, PG Dip This MSc has been designed as a technical Master’s to meet the educational base to become a Chartered Engineer, for undergraduates in possession of an IEng accredited civil engineering degree.

These courses are accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators consisting of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), and the Institute of Highway Incorporated Engineers.

You will develop your skills in investigation, analysis, design, technical and project management, self-direction and originality in the context of a dynamic global environment where complex factors such as sustainability significantly impact on engineering processes.

CONSTRUCTION LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION MSc, PG Cert Develop a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework within which construction organisations and projects are managed, including the resolution of disputes that arise.

This unique course aims to meet the growing need within the demolition sector for professionals with a thorough understanding of the management of the demolition process. The focus is on following the process through feasibility methodologies, operational and strategic thinking and delivery of deconstruction techniques.

This course covers areas of strategy, control, technical, commercial, legal, financial and organisational issues.

WHY WOLVERHAMPTON? You will be exposed to real-life demolition projects and will address and review demolition management at a strategic and operational level.
