Sustainability at Work We Make Sustainability A Priority with initiatives that touch every corner of our campus, guided by our Community Outreach Coordinator and Healthy and Sustainable Campus Committee: The Campus Garden — Grows a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs to serve the community. The Compost — Provides a sustainable path for trash, and processes food waste from Woody’s Café. The Solar Decathlon — Our School of Architecture proudly participated in the 2023 Solar Decathlon Build Challenge, constructing LA’s first officially permitted, 3D-printed, zero-energy dwelling that is sustainably designed to help address vexing city housing challenges.

The Solar House The WSOA Solar Decathlon project uses cutting-edge construction technology to address affordable and sustainable housing challenges. Students and faculty designed and built a fully-permitted 450 square foot micro-residence using 3D-printed concrete. This pioneering project marks the first time the City of Los Angeles has permitted a 3-D printed house. Watch the build in action!
