Welcome

Welcome to our Penryn Campus. Our Open Day is designed to help you find out more about the University of Exeter, Cornwall and decide if we are the right university for you. The day is packed with opportunities for you to see our facilities, meet our staff and students, and experience the atmosphere of the University for yourself.

Top tips

We know that there’s a lot to fit into one of our Open Days! Here are our top tips for making the most of your visit.

Check in: You can do this by clicking check in on your E-ticket or heading to the Welcome and Information desk.

Plan your day: Use the timetable on the back cover to help plan your visit.

Talk to our community:

l Student ambassadors can answer all your questions about what Exeter is like as a student.

l Chat with our academics and support staff at our Information and Academic fair and get help with any queries you may have.

Get to know where you will be living and studying:

l Take an accommodation tour from Glasney Lodge (see number 19 on map).

l Explore our beautiful campus and facilities on a campus tour. Campus tours depart from outside The Students’ Union.

Find out more about student life at the University of Exeter:

l Attend our specialist talks on Admissions, finance and student life.

l Go to the subject presentations that you are interested in to learn about the different courses and department facilities.

Explore the local area! Penryn and Falmouth are wonderful towns to live and study in. Take a visit to get a feel for the area.

In case of emergency, please alert the nearest member of staff. First aid assistance is available at the Welcome and Information desk in the Stannary, and at Glasney Lodge by the accommodation tours.

Lost property should be taken to the Welcome desk in the Stannary. You can also hand it to a Student Ambassador. If you lose any property, please go to the Welcome desk in the first instance and we can log your details with the Open Day team.

The Stannary is the hub of our Open Day activity, here you can find:

Welcome and Information desk

This is where you can register for the event here and pick up a schedule. The Welcome desk is the best place to ask any questions you might have; we can point you in the right direction for talks and tours and to assist you should you have any accessibility needs. This is also the point of contact for first aid and lost property enquiries.

Information and Support services stands

Our Admissions team can help with any application queries, and our support staff will be available to explain the services and facilities on offer to support you during your time here. Stands on the day include:

Academic Subject stands

Academic staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about the subjects you are interested in. There will be a stand for each subject, where you can talk directly to staff about facilities, teaching and research. Student Ambassadors (current students) will also be on each stand to chat about their experiences and what makes living and studying in Cornwall so special.

General tours and presentations

All central activities are offered to prospective students and a guest on a first-come first-served basis. Tour times are approximate, and there may be a short wait for the tour to start.

Lab tours: for Ecology & Conservation, Geography, Environmental Science and Marine Science programmes.

(Geology and Engineering tours will be within the subject sessions due to their location)

Various International student 1:1 Session

For international students, you can arrange a oneto-one session with our team to ask any questions you may have as an international student.

Subject presentations

Subject talks will include a presentation and optional refreshments. Particular subjects may run additional activities and tours. Priority will be given to prospective students first, followed by guests if there is capacity.
