WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF EXETER TASTER DAY

The University of Exeter is a member of the Russell Group and is ranked 7th in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016. We rank within the top ten of all major UK league tables and place in the top 100 universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Over 95% of our first degree graduates were in employment or further study six months after graduation according to the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey of 2013/14 graduates. We are committed from day one of your degree to helping you build the right skills to develop a successful career. That support extends throughout your studies and even after you graduate.

Making the most of your visit This Taster Day is designed to help you find out more about the University and decide if Exeter is the university for you. The day is packed with opportunities for you to see a range of facilities, meet staff and students and experience the atmosphere of the University for yourself.

There are two campuses in Exeter: Streatham and St Luke’s. Please check which campus your activities will take place on. All visitors are invited to participate in the general information and advice activities held on the Streatham Campus in the morning. Subject presentations will be held in the afternoon on both campuses. Information about transportation to the St Luke’s Campus can be found on page 2. There is a general information stand in the Information Fair in the Forum on the Streatham Campus where staff will be more than happy to deal with any enquiries.

Student Marshals, wearing navy blue t-shirts, will be scattered across the campuses and will also answer any questions you may have.

This brochure outlines all the activities and presentations on offer, enabling you to select and prioritise the ones you would like to attend (please note: you can only attend the academic subject presentation in which you have booked). The maps on pages 3–5 indicate the main buildings on the campuses to help you find your way around.

We would also recommend you take a campus tour to help orientate yourself (see page 2).

FAIR INFORMATION Support Services and College Information Fair

Where and When: Streatham Campus Forum (3) 09:30-16:00 There will be a range of displays and literature available for you to browse.

Support services staff will be available to explain the facilities and services on offer to support you during your time here.

Support services staff and college representatives will be available in the Forum.

There will also be a stand for each College, where you can talk directly to staff about facilities, teaching and research, as well as pick up subject information on every course we offer.

Staff from the Admissions Office will be available to talk through any admissions enquiries and about your application to Exeter. If you are interested in studying in Cornwall, staff from the Penryn Campus will be available to talk about the programmes they offer.

GENERAL PRESENTATIONS We realise that there is a lot to fit into one of our Taster Days!

If you don’t have the time to attend the general presentations, you may wish to visit the exhibition stands at the Information Fair in the Forum (3). There will be representatives available for you to talk to on an individual basis and literature available for you to collect.

Funding your study

45mins A member of the Students’ Guild Advice Unit will give an overview of student finance and the support available to fund your studies. Topics covered will include potential expenditure, the types and amounts of support available, how to apply for student finance, as well as an overview of the additional support offered by the University of Exeter.

The presentation will include time for questions at the end.
