INTERNATIONAL STUDENT WELCOME PROGRAMME 2018

WELCOME A WARM WELCOME TO ALL NON-UK STUDENTS STUDYING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF EXETER IN CORNWALL Our programme of events will help you with practical and fun information to help you quickly settle into campus life, and your new life in Cornwall. Most events are free, and some marked with a * are repeated throughout the week, so you only need to attend once. We know there's lots going on during Freshers' Week! It is important that you prioritise Academic Induction events in your timetable, and International Student Clearance. International Student Clearance is compulsory for all International feepaying students. EU students do not need to attend.

INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS TIMETABLE Thursday

Airport Collection Service Join our coach services from London Heathrow to campus. Must be booked in advance online.

Friday

13 September Move in

Move into your accommodation and unpack. Then join other new and current students for a chat & drinks. Time & Location TBC.

14 September Supermarket Trip

International Student Clearance* Complete your registration and collect your BRP. 12noon - 6pm @ Sports Centre

Saturday

Guided walk to Asda for clothes, homeware, toiletries and more. Return via FXU shuttle bus service. Meet outside the campus shop. Times TBC.

FXU International Pizza & Prosecco Meet other international students and your FXU team for free pizza and prosecco. Time & location TBC.

15 September

Visit Falmouth

International Student Clearance* Complete registration, collect BRP. 10am - 3pm,@ Sports Centre

Cream Tea Welcome talk Be welcomed to the University with talks from senior staff at the University, Enjoy a Cornish cream tea (scone with jam and clotted cream, plus tea or coffee) and meet other international students. 4pm-4:30pm.@ PL Lecture 5

Chaplaincy pizza night Discover the hidden gem of the Chaplaincy and enjoy some pizza with other students. 7pm-10pm @ the Chaplaincy

Study Abroad Welcome Talk

Hi!

16 September Meet your Mentor Meet with your Global Chums mentor and other new students. 4pm-6pm @ Exchange seminar spaces.

Monday Welcome Week Fair*

17 September

All the support services in one place, including banks, doctors, IT, wellbeing & gym. 10am - 4pm @ The Exchange

Explore your new campus with an Ambassador.  11am-12noon @ Glasney Lodge.

Campus Tour

Wednesday Welcome Week Fair* All the support services in one place, including banks, doctors, IT, wellbeing & gym. 10am - 4pm @ The Exchange

Chocolate Fountain Visit the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy and feast on their chocolate fountain! 7pm-10pm @ the Chaplaincy

17 September

Police Registration*

Join other Study Abroad and Exchange students for a introductory talk to welcome you to campus. Time & location TBC

Join your FXU Presidents to explore Falmouth and all its shops. End at the Falmouth campus for some get-to-know you games. Time & location TBC.

St Ives Day Trip Visit this most special of Cornish towns. Spend the day in the local cafes and shops, wandering the cobbled streets, or viewing art in the Tate St Ives. 10am - 5pm £8. Spaces are limited, you must pre-book online.

Sunday

23 September FXU Freshers' Fayre Find out more about and sign up for societies , activities and volunteering. Time & location TBC

Postgraduate Welcome Dinner Be welcomed to the University of Exeter, meet other PG students and enjoy a welcome drink, 2 course dinner with tea/coffee. 7pm @ ESI. £6. Must be booked online.

What's coming up? Although that may be the end of Freshers' Week, there's plenty to look forward to! Complete the 'Welcome English' course Attend Global Chums Cornwall social events Check out society events and socials Go out and explore the local area Start studying!
