You can access workshops, online assignment feedback through our Writing Advisory Service and one-to-one tutorials (in person and online). You can also book an appointment with a Skills Hub tutor to get feedback on assignments and support with your written and spoken English.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT LIFE
As a student from China, we want you to feel at home in Brighton.
The city has a huge restaurant scene for international food, so you can find comforting meals that remind you of home. You can enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine, such as dim sum and hot pot, at many restaurants across Brighton.
If you prefer to make your favourite dish at home, there are international grocery stores selling traditional Chinese cooking oils, noodles, spices and fresh produce.
The tutors at the University of Brighton are really good and taught me a lot about architecture. I have really enjoyed the weather, and the beach of Brighton is lovely.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
The levels of English required vary based on which course you apply for and your degree level. Below are our general IELTS entry requirements, but please check the course page for the most accurate information.
Undergraduate/bachelors-level IELTS requirements:
• Standard: 6.0 overall, minimum of 5.5 in all components
• High: 6.5 overall, minimum of 5.5 in all components
• Advanced: 7.0 overall, minimum of 6.5 in all components.
Postgraduate/masters-level IELTS requirements:
• Standard: 6.5 overall, minimum of 5.5 in all components
• High: 7.0 overall, minimum of 6.5 in all components.
2026–27 FEES
We also accept other English language tests and equivalencies.
If you do not meet our entry requirements, you can study a pathway course at our international college to gain entry to an undergraduate course or certain postgraduate courses at the University of Brighton.
Degree preparation courses are available at our University of Brighton International College (UBIC) for students who don’t meet our entry requirements

SCHOLARSHIPS
Studying in the UK is a great investment in your future. We offer competitive scholarships to support international students studying at Brighton.
Bachelors-level study: eligible students save £5,500 across a standard three-year undergraduate degree with a ViceChancellor scholarship that can be combined with additional awards.
Masters-level study: eligible students save up to £3,500–£5,000 with a Vice-Chancellor scholarship that can be combined with additional awards and a £500 early-bird confirmation discount.

PRE-SESSIONAL ENGLISH COURSES
We offer on-campus and online pre-sessional English courses. You can choose the course length based on how much you need to improve your IELTS score to meet our academic English language requirements.
You will need to pay a tuition fee deposit after your offer becomes unconditional (unless you are exempt)
