Universal Furniture caught up with Brittany Nixon Brun of Brittany Nixon Creative in Little Rock, AR.

How long have you been working with Universal Furniture and how has your experience been with the brand?

I have been an account holder for several years and I have been pleased with how they are continuously working to better the customer experience and tools for designers. The investment they made to their website has been a game-changer as well as a selling point for customers who need the extra visual. I am specifically referring to the special order upholstery visualizer. The High Point showroom is always a favorite because they have created a welcoming and eye-catching space. Each space flows seamlessly and the choice of fabrics and the lighting alone is attractive.

What was your project?

My client has a vacation home, and needed to replace some current furnishings because they were blocking an internal view. Specifically, she had two Bergere chairs that cut off the view of the fire box in the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace. Seeing the warmth of the fire was comforting to her, and she wanted to see that view every time she walked into the room.

What upholstery frame did you choose?

I chose the Huntington swivel lounge chair because of its low back. The chair’s compact yet comfortable profile fit the space where we needed something that didn’t read too heavy or overtake the room. We didn’t have space for oversized chairs and these worked perfectly because they were comfortable even with their smaller size!

How did the fabric swatches come into play?

I’ve worked with Universal’s swatch room both in the showroom and online. I like that the materials are easy to sort through, and grouped by special collections. The room’s color palette was a mixture of green, ivory and brown, so we chose Langdon in Natural. It’s overscale, nubby texture added visual interest to the room.

Did you use the 3D modeling feature on the website?

I love this feature! It is done very well and almost all frames that come special order are available with this. I like that it shows you the rendering from every angle as clients need that extra visual quite often.
