Des Moines, IA – UnityPoint Health – John Stoddard Cancer Center and GreenState Credit Union are proud to announce an impactful partnership that will combine the strengths of both parties to provide comprehensive support to individuals and families affected by cancer.
The cornerstone of the partnership is GreenState Credit Union generously committing $100,000 to the It Takes You Comprehensive Fundraising Campaign supporting the newly created Financial Navigator position at Stoddard Cancer Center. Navigating the financial challenges associated with cancer treatment can be overwhelming. The Financial Navigator assists patients so financial distress does not impede the patient’s care. Areas of focus for the Financial Navigator are uncovering and addressing insurance challenges, helping establish payment plans, answering billing questions and leading patients and their caregivers to financial assistance programs.
“We are excited to add the Financial Navigator position, the first of its kind in Central Iowa, as part of our patient navigator team. The Financial Navigator will work to remove financial barriers to care for patients and families, helping them navigate insurance and billing while providing access to resources to improve health outcomes. We’re incredibly grateful to GreenState Credit Union for their leadership and investment in our patients,” says Sarah Zeidler, Executive Director of John Stoddard Cancer Center.
GreenState Credit Union will also serve as the presenting partner for the annual Rally Against Cancer fundraising event through 2027. Since 2000, Rally Against Cancer has raised over $6.5 million to support the programs and services Stoddard Cancer Center provides free of charge to patients and families to help improve their quality of life throughout treatment and beyond. The 2024 Rally Against Cancer is scheduled for January 27, 2024.
