Support UnityPoint at Home and Taylor House Hospice: Year End 2023

Dear friend,

The holiday season is upon us.

Your days and weekends are probably starting to fill up with seasonal celebrations.

Cookie exchanges, community events and festive gatherings with your family and friends…your calendar is full of meaningful events to get in the holiday spirit and connect with your loved ones.

It’s these moments that make lasting memories.

During this time of year, patients receiving end-of-life-care want to make the most of the time they have left with their family and friends.

You can make final wishes come true.

When Ted was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma, he never expected to think about receiving hospice care. A few days after Ted’s prognosis, his family received news his father was also diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Together, they received end-of-life-care across the hall from each other at Taylor House Hospice.

“Without Taylor House Hospice, I am not sure what we would have done,” says Ted. “It was nice to have both of my father and me here for our family. It was especially nice for me to be able to spend my dad’s last days by his side.”

You help provide special moments for patients and their families. While at Taylor House, Ted turned 55-years-old. With the help of his care team, Ted had a guest list of more than 50 of his favorite people. Together they celebrated with a grill out and birthday party.

“Providing these services and delivering exceptional care makes a big difference,” says Ted. “Thank you to the donors who helped make this possible. I don’t think there are words that describe how much it means when you are in these types of difficult situations.”

Your support and generosity are needed now. For Ted and countless other patients and families who need hospice care during the holiday season.

Long term and hospice care often become a financial burden to loved ones. At UnityPoint Hospice and Taylor House, we believe no hospice patient should be turned away based on the inability to pay.

Your support is felt beyond providing compassionate end-of-life care. It gives patients and families the opportunity to use comfort therapies like massage, music and animal assisted therapies. Your gift provides patients and families the chance to make meaningful memories that will last forever.

Every year, we have seen more and more families utilize this program and the reality is: we need your help to replenish this fund. When you make a gift, you are delivering more than comfort, you are redefining the hope hospice care brings in someone’s life.

This holiday season, your gift plays a crucial role – 100% of it goes directly to providing comfort to patients and families.

Will you help us make final wishes come true? Any gift will help, but here are some examples:

  • Your gift of $50 pays for music therapy for one patient.

  • Your gift of $125 provides grieving families with everything from one-on-one phone calls and memorial ceremonies to grief support groups and bereavement workshops.

  • Your gift of $220 pays for one day of room and board at Taylor House. Make a bigger impact with a gift of $1,540 for a full week of room and board.

  • Your gift of $550 provide patients with last anniversaries, birthday parties and reunions with parents or children through our Legacies & Last Wishes program.

It’s the time of year when people reflect and give. I hope you consider making a difference at UnityPoint Hospice and Taylor House this holiday season. We are grateful for your generosity and the comfort and peace you bring to so many.

Warm Regards,
Robert Reid
