Before starting treatment at Powell Chemical Dependency Center (CDC), I was full of fear, hopelessness and felt physically and mentally ill all the time. I believed the only cure was drinking to the bitter end.
I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.

Thanks to donor support, I received treatment at one of the best recovery programs in the state of Iowa.
Powell CDC gives individuals who struggle with drugs and alcohol a chance to rediscover themselves by providing therapeutic skills, encouragement and unwavering support not only for them, but their loved ones too.
This program helps patients like me build a life filled with purpose, sobriety and hope.
This year, Powell CDC is celebrating 50 years of assisting the recovery of those facing addiction. From serving 80 patients in 1973, to treating more than 650 patients and providing 4,300 hours of counseling this year, the team at Powell CDC continues to meet the ongoing needs throughout the community.

You might not know, but the reality is, many patients cannot afford the life-saving services provided at Powell CDC. Receiving treatment for addiction can often become a financial burden. Powell CDC believes no one should struggle alone.

Today, I am 16 months sober. To repay what Powell CDC has given me, I choose to lead meetings and be a resource to others who are still struggling in their recovery journey.
