Blank Children’s Hospital Child Life Program

$32,576 given. Support helps children find positive ways to cope with the fear and anxiety that often accompany a trip to the doctor, a medical procedure or a hospital stay. Impact: 30,000 interactions per year, 780 bubbles blown for distraction, 1,765 games played.

UnityPoint Hospice Patient Assistance Fund

$15,192 given. Gifts make sure hospice patients can receive the compassionate care they needregardless of their ability to pay. Impact: 85 patients are provided assistance per year.

“It changed my world to know hospice care is not just for a certain age group, it can be for anyone, at anytime in their journey. Hospice is not just a one-stop-shop, they really take care of the entire family, spiritually and emotionally.”

Charlie Cutler Healing & Wellness Program:

$20,539 given. Gifts provided evidence-based complementary therapies that support mind, body and spirit. Impact: 378 hours of massage therapy, 6,200 Meals That Matter provided, and 56 music therapy hours.

Foundation has record year of support!

$15,000,000 transferred in 2022. The Foundation provided a record $15 million to support programs, services, equipment and education for patients, families and team members at UnityPoint Health - Des Moines.

Employee Crisis Funds

$28,059 given. Gifts help meet the needs of hundreds of employees who experience personal crisis such as prolonged illness, death or a weather event.

Compassion Funds

$49,344 given. We have seen an increase in the unmet financial needs of patients and families. The need for our compassion funds are greater than ever. Gifts provide things like gas cards, meals, medication and transportation.

“There were several times when Missy had treatment, and I thought, ‘Are we going to write a rubber check so we can get gas to take her there? And then we’ll be there for 8 hours, what are we going to eat?’ The compassion fund really, really helps you get to where you can focus on treatment.” - Tom, Missy’s Husband

Eyerly Ball

$15,278 given. Gifts help advance the communitybased comprehensive mental health services. Impact: 5,000 individuals served every year.

STAR Center

$8,441 given. In 2022, the STAR Center provided 3,440 services to 1,657 patients, helping children thrive regardless of their circumstance.

Behavioral Health Services

$51,518 given. Gifts support an extensive spectrum of care covering all age groups and types of programs to meet the needs of our community. Impact: 100,000 patients served through inpatient, outpatient and chemical dependency visits.

John Stoddard Cancer Center Oncology Navigator Program

$13,935 given. Gifts fully support trained nurses and social workers who help connect patients and families with resources within the cancer center and in the community. Impact: 900 new patients and families are referred per year.
