In December 2012, Unity College became the first institution of higher education to divest from investments in fossil fuels, kicking off a growing national movement. Unity is the only college with a total focus on sustainability science, the leading edge approach to global environmental problem solving. The TerraHaus residence on Unity’s campus is the first college residence hall in the nation built to the Passive House standard, representing the highest international standard for energy efficiency. Unity is the first institution in the state of Maine to offer organic, local dairy in the dining hall from Maine’s Own Organic Milk (MOO Milk).

Get Involved. You’ll find yourself on a campus full of things to do. More than 70% of students live on campus. Participate in Unity’s Coffeehouse, one of the social, cultural, and educational programs through Student Activities. Join one of the athletic teams or one of the 30 student-run clubs. See a band at the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts. Research in the newly renovated multi-media lab with more than 30 stations.

Analyze wind power resources in the Community Wind Assessment Program. Join the Search and Rescue team to help local authorities find missing individuals. Work in a 1,008 square foot green house in coordination with an organization helping to fight hunger by providing fresh vegetables for the local food pantry.
