FEATURED ARTIST - Deborah Kasongo
My name is Deborah Kasongo and I am the founder of “DeeKaayArt”! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology and minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Ryerson University! I am also a lifestyle social media Influencer, using the platforms of Instagram and YouTube! I’ve always loved art and design! During September 2019, I decided to follow my dreams and open up my own Online Art Shop! I am now an abstract painter and a digital artist! I paint unique paintings and design digital pieces that could fit perfectly in someone’s home! I feel like art allows us to connect and it’s interesting how differently people view art and the message behind an art piece! My art sends a message and that message can be different for every person! Art = Freedom!
These two art pieces are a great representation of “DeeKaayArt”! They represent where I was born, Africa!

I painted the continent of Africa and decided to add an abstract background to showcase the chaos, pain, poverty and corruption that surrounds the continent. I painted the actual continent gold to show how rich the continent is in natural resources!

I created Mama Africa to represent the African Mother whose identity lies within the African culture. Her head wrap holds her natural hair and becomes part of her identity.
