A note from Our CEO

I’m really proud to introduce you to our first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Charter.

Created by teammates at every level, from right across PHX Ireland, it celebrates the power of people to fuel change, break barriers and grow together into an even better, stronger team. In developing it, we’ve learnt what matters to you as individuals and to all of us, collectively. A huge thank you to everyone who’s worked so hard to bring it to life.

Our Charter sets out what diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) mean to us here at PHX, and our ambitions to embed them into the heart of what we do. It sets out our DEI mission, vision and purpose,

and shows how DEI supports our company values – and our culture of care.

Most importantly of all, our Charter sets out the commitments we’re making to you, and the commitments you can make to each other. Over time, I know these will grow, evolve and change with us, but their goal will always be to make PHX a genuinely diverse, inclusive and supportive place to belong, to grow and to thrive.

Creating positive change for our people, patients, customers and community means setting out our ambitions, understanding why they matter and holding ourselves accountable for making them happen. That’s why we’ve put together a DEI mission, vision and purpose for PHX…

Mission

At PHX Ireland, we deliver health by creating a diverse, fair and inclusive environment, where our people feel valued and empowered. We want our talented team to reflect the diverse communities we serve, so we’re constantly working to be a fair, respectful workplace for everyone.

Vision

Our vision is to build an environment where innovation thrives, thanks to the unique perspectives and experiences of our people. By embracing diversity, inclusivity and a culture of care, we’ll keep raising standards and driving real change – both out in the community and at the heart of our teams.

Purpose

Our DEI initiatives go hand in hand with our core values: being customer focused, quality driven, collaborative, ambitious, innovative and inclusive. By genuinely championing diversity and inclusion, we know we can live our values and achieve real excellence in delivering health.

So what do we really mean by... Diversity, Equity & Inclusion?

With so many organisations talking about DEI, what does it really mean for us here at PHX Ireland? Taking a closer look at how we interpret it and how it impacts us is the first step to bringing it to life in the work we do.

What do we mean by... Diversi t y?

Diversity centres around awareness, understanding, acceptance and valuing the differences between us. By embracing and bringing together people with diverse backgrounds, roles and ideas, we drive innovation, ambition and collaboration. Championing diversity means creating an inclusive, supportive, respectful environment where everyone feels they really belong.

What do we mean by... Equity?

Equity means constantly striving to find and break down bias, challenging ourselves to see our practices from new perspectives, and recognising the way they impact different people. It’s how we create a fair, discrimination-free workplace where everyone’s merits are valued, everyone’s needs are supported and everyone has equal access to opportunities, information and resources.

What do we mean by... Inclusion?

Inclusion is about fostering a sense of belonging, and an open-minded, accepting workplace where everyone feels heard and valued. We work hard to create a sense of real psychological safety for our people – a feeling of trust and confidence that empowers them to be themselves, speak up, share ideas, be vulnerable, disagree openly and raise concerns without fear.

Our PHX values run through everything we do, and our DEI Charter is no exception. It ties into and complements every one of our values, and over the next few pages we’ll be exploring how.

We’ll continuously improve by tackling discrimination, misconduct and noninclusive behaviour, anywhere we see it. It’s all about creating an environment where our people feel safe and confident enough to think creatively, achieve their potential and get outstanding results.

By encouraging collaboration across departments and locations, we’ll break down silos, forge new connections and genuinely work as one team – stronger, better and succeeding together.

DEI helps us be Innovative

Recognising and valuing our differences means we can capitalise on the unique insights we each have to offer, sparking new ideas that make life better for our patients, customers and communities.

DEI helps us be Ambitious

Really understanding and embracing DEI will empower us to challenge the status quo, bringing diverse perspectives and possibilities to the table. It will fuel our imagination and open up an exciting, collaborative future.

DEI helps us be lnclusive

We’re building a culture of inclusion, open-mindedness and positive intent. That means we’ll treat our teammates with dignity and respect, constantly working to remove bias from our policies and processes, and create a safe, supportive place where people can be their best selves.

Playing our part in creating a psychologically safe environment, where everyone can speak up, give feedback and grow from their mistakes.

Play your part

We have established a DEI Community as part of creating this charter. This voluntary group of teammates is dedicated to advancing our DEI journey.

The community provides a platform to share feedback and suggestions, review upcoming DEI initiatives before they launch, and participate in creating dynamic DEI events. If you're interested in getting involved, please email icomms@phixireland.ie.
