What's different about Camp 2030?

"The camp experience and the beautiful location and amenities, particularly the lake aspect."

"This camp really tested my limits in all aspects, weather that was needing to adjust to the weather or being encouraged to meet new people or just being able to have the freedom to be myself and not have a set schedule or dress code "

"The un conference approach is more effective in terms of creating impact and facilitated greater opportunities to build a network "

"The range of cultures and experiences in the room with different perspectives and opinions was the most valuable aspect of Camp."

The majority of Campers had not previously attended a similar, in-person program like Camp 2030.

What
was most
to you and how did Camp 2030 help you achieve it?

"Being in a space cut off from reality in a way helped us bond and understand people from different communities and really understand them. This helped me make friends that I believe I will carry on after Camp and gives me assurance that I am now a part of a valuable community."

"After meeting people from other countries with whom we shared the same passion to change our environment, I realized that is worth continuing to fight to improve the living conditions of our people, Now, I'm more ready than ever, I feel refreshed and with new energy to move forward."

"I appreciated that I was pushed to efficiently identify and find solutions to a problem statement. Being surrounded by others who have the same drive is motivating and revealed to me all that I am capable of."

"Gaining new knowledge about social entrepreneurship is important to me because of the line of work I'll be in once I graduate, especially seeing how we have limited resources available in my community."

"I think the hands-on "get out of your shell" experience was most beneficial to me personally. This allowed me to challenge myself and really take the time to get to know new people. Although we were building a solution, these activities and events taught me how to build a solution rather than just creating one."

"Learning how to go from plan to action was something I very much looked forward to in Camp. The activities and the handbook that we used throughout the week really helped getting a better understanding on how to create a solution and come up with an action-plan."

"Many conferences that I have been to keep the participants relatively passive. Thus, I was looking for a conference that gives maximum agency to the delegates to create innovative solutions."

"I needed a network of strong, ambitious and determined individuals who are keen in changing the world."

"It allowed me to think about implementation differently as each country is different culturally, socially, financially."

"It was surreal being able to build community the way we did in not even one week. It allowed me to know so much more about other cultures, ways of living - and struggles, too."

"I was really inspired by all the enthusiasm and excitement around me at camp. Focusing on action and building action oriented solutions has been incredibly enriching and insightful too. Therefore, the resources and tools provided by unite helped me connect with every step of the process and enriched the experience even further."

our our strategy strategy 2022 2022

Before Camp 2030 began, many of our incoming Campers expressed concerns regarding their journey for global change and SDG implementation.

The Camp 2030 model touched on all of these concerns in numerous ways.

CONCERN

"I find it difficult to meet other young Changemakers that have the same goals and visions for the world as I do "

"I find it difficult to meet experts that can help get my ideas off the ground."

"I feel that the sustainability sector does not create space for young people."

"I feel like my voice is not often heard."

STRATEGY

Campers are required to be ages 18 35 on the first day of Camp

Campers were introduced to numerous experts, specifically picked for their involvement in their chosen SDGs, in the forms of mentorships over Zoom and in person judges

Camp 2030 was created specifically for this reason We believe that young people hold the capability and power to change the world, and Camp offers them a space to work on this together

There was one Counselor for every SDG Track, overseeing all of the teams, and ensuring that Campers had an opportunity to share their ideas and thoughts with their teammates

"I want to change the world, and have fun while doing it "

"I feel like I need to learn more before I can take action "

"I am bored by the amount of conversation, and the lack of action."

Camp 2030 is half a solutions hub and half traditional summer Camp We're talking campfires, rope courses and meals at the mess hall

The UNITE 2030 Team understood this prior to Camp 2030 beginning, which is what inspired our educational innovation process guide that each team was equipped with during the week

Part of the innovation process at Camp 2030 is a science fair esque visualization the Campers create on a 3 paneled poster board During SDG Solutions Hub, these posters are put on display for Campers, spectators and judges to see all of their solutions they innovated for during that week

2023 2023 goals goals

In 2022, we had our first-ever run of Camp 2023. It was an incredible learning experience not only for our Campers, but for the UNITE 2030 team. After dreaming of and planning this innovation lab for years, we are ready and excited to make sure the second time is better than the first. These are our 2023 goals, inspired by the feedback of our amazing Campers.

2 1 INCLUSIVITY

At UNITE 2030, we believe that everybody deserves a seat at the table, and this extends to Camp 2030. Campers are heavily encouraged to share their voices and ideas with their teammates, Counselor and the HQ Team so they feel heard and understood

3 CULTURAL SENSITIVITY

We've heard our Campers' concerns regarding cultural insensitivity. In response, we have designed cultural sensitivity trainings that will be required to attend Camp in 2023, and our staff and Counselors will be equipped with the tools necessary to combat this, should it arise.

4

MENTORSHIP

We are fortunate to be able to work with so many incredible organizations and professionals in the changemaking space. In 2022, we connected Campers with some of these individuals and plan to do so again in 2023, taking into account that many people wished they had more time for mentorship

INDIVIDUALISM & COLLECTIVISM

Individualism is an important characteristic of UNITE 2030 and our team and we believe in the power of it! Every person has something to offer to the changemaking space, and we try to bring these traits out in every Camper Likewise, we recognize collectivism is imperative to achieving the SDGs. Unique individuals coming together is a formula for change.
