With love, from Camp 2030 A postcard from the executive director To all Prospective Partners and Supporters, Camp 2030 was borne from the idea that change is possible, but only if we listen to and elevate the voices of young people. Since starting this job a little over 6 years ago, I have continued to be inspired by young Changemakers from almost every country who have worked to develop solutions to the biggest challenges that the world has faced. In 2022, for the first time, we united Changemakers in one place, and pioneered a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. What may have been considered a novelty idea: a hybrid of innovation lab & a true American summer Camp experience -- has become reality, uniting over 200 youth leaders from 61 countries, speaking 35 languages, inspiring 36 new business solutions to the biggest challenges that the world faces.
TO:
Supporters of Youth Around the world
In our 2nd year, we are expanding to be bigger and bolder than ever before, uniting partners from all sectors who are paving the way to create a better future for all. We are so grateful to all who have contributed to our impact, enabling our young leaders to grow and increase their impact. In 2023, we continue to strive to set an example for young leaders to put change into their own hands, and create a more sustainable future for all.
With love,
Alyssa Chassman Founder & Executive Director UNITE 2030

the camp 2030 innovation process Camp 2030 uses a proven innovation process to support Campers in developing next generation solutions to the Sustainable Development Goals. Using human-centered design, teams of Campers work their way through our Innovation Workbook to define a problem and build a solution by the end of the week.
A Learn-By Doing Model Our Innovation Process was built using a widevariety of resources, and is based on humancentered design techniques, workshops, and activities. It is designed to support Campers in coreareas that allow them to guide themselves through the process.
Campers will build their solutions based on by achieving specific “Gates” throughout the week. These “Gates” help Campers achieve their deliverables for the SDG Solutions Hub - where they will pitch their final solutions to a Judging Panel in New York City on the final day of Camp. To help Campers achieve these “Gates,” they utilize our Hackathon Workbook, which is full of exercises to guide them along the way. While the innovation process is an ongoing, iterative process, there are three deliverables that are required for each Team to submit at the end of Camp 2030.. Each deliverable helps Campers to showcase your ideas to fellow Campers, the judging panel, and outsiders, who could help you further their work after Camp is finished.

NO POVERTY 4 NEW ENTREPRENURIAL SOLUTIONS.
CHALLENGES SOLVED:
CHILD LABOR AGRICULTURAL MICROFINANCING UNDER-RESOURCED COMMUNITIES ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE
13
Meet SDG 1 Camper: Vilousa Hahembe "The solution my team and I came up with during Camp 2030 helps low income parents find employment or start their own business under the condition that they put their children in school and their children must remain in school. However, in Papua New Guinea, there's a shortage of schools versus the growing population of children who need to be in school. Most children are denied their right to education because their parents cannot afford it or there's no space in the classrooms to accommodate large numbers of students. For this reason, I am starting an education fund charity that will go towards building of schools and scholarships for students to stay in school."
14
TRACK 3:
GOOD HEALTH & WELL-BEING 5 NEW ENTREPRENURIAL SOLUTIONS.
CHALLENGES SOLVED:
MENTAL HEALTH IN ELDERLY CHAGAS DISEASE IN VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES DRUG STIGMA SLEEP DEPRIVATION MENTAL HEALTH IN CHILDREN
15
Meet SDG 3 Camper: Dr. Aye Myat Thiri "Camp 2030 has not only pushed me to my potential professionally, but also helped me build cultural competency working in a multicultural setting in just a span of 1 week! My advice would be to come open-minded, learn passionately, and most importantly, enjoy the balance between nature and working towards your goals. I had an amazing opportunity to personally and professionally get to know two life-long friends from Camp 2030, both from both of them from different geographic regions and different backgrounds but with the same burning passion towards making the world a better place by reducing inequalities. We are still in contact up to this day and working towards coming up with an initiative together."
16
TRACK 4: QUALITY EDUCATION 5 NEW ENTREPRENURIAL SOLUTIONS
CHALLENGES SOLVED:
POST-PANDEMIC EDUCATION SKILLS GAP IN TEENAGERS SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT MENTAL HEALTH IN TEENAGERS FAMILY INVOLVEMENT IN EDUCATION
17
Meet SDG 4 Camper: Daniel Dell’Armi "We formed an incredibly diverse team whilst at Camp 2030. Jason (from Jamaica), Melody (from Tanzania) and Alexandra (from Romania). Our team developed an idea throughout the week called the Incentivised Education Ecosystem (I.E.E). Our solution aims at developing a strong and robust curriculum for families in low-income developing nations such as Jamaica. We want to give families the ability to TEACH their kids, by providing them with the basic knowledge and tools to be successful in life; including financial literacy, health and gender empowerment. Our curriculum will be hands-on with workshops, seminars, radio broadcasts and community events."
18
TRACK 5: GENDER EQUALITY
5 NEW ENTREPRENURIAL SOLUTIONS
CHALLENGES SOLVED:
GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE GENDER PAY GAP MENSTRUAL HEALTH STIGMA HEALTHCARE FOR WOMEN FINANCIAL DEPENDENCE IN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SITUATIONS
19
Meet SDG 5 Camper: Camila Ontiveros "Camp 2030 definitely brings you out of your comfort zone, not only because you are in the middle of the woods (literally) but also because you get to meet so many changemakers from so many different places that may have different ideas than you, but that’s okay! Hearing them talk and share their knowledge with you can be the most beautiful thing in this world, but only if you are willing to listen."
20
TRACK 6:
CLEAN WATER & SANITATION 3 NEW ENTREPRENURIAL SOLUTIONS
CHALLENGES SOLVED:
OVER-CONSUMPTION OF WATER LACK OF WASH RESOURCES IN DEVELOPING COMMUNITIES WATER SYSTEM MAINTENENCE
21
Meet SDG 6 Camper: Gabriel Fernandes "I'm so excited to have new projects evolving around SDG 6! I developed a microplastic filter for Water Treatment Stations. My objective was to build an easyto-install-not invasive- cheap filter of microplastic for water treatment plants to remove this particle from water before it reach our homes. I've created some prototypes that have worked well, but now am working to apply them in water treatment plants."
22
TRACK 8:
DECENT WORK & ECONOMIC GROWTH 7 NEW ENTREPRENURIAL SOLUTIONS
CHALLENGES SOLVED:
RACIAL BIAS IN HIRING RISE IN UNEMPLOYMENT FINANCIAL ILLITERACY RESOURCE SCARCITY FOR FOUNDERS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES LABOR EXPLOITATION RELIANCE ON LARGE-SCALE FARMING YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT
23
Meet SDG 8 Camper: Mahmood Baban "I have so many memorable moments from Camp 2030. My most unforgettable one was at the SDG Solutions Hub when Alyssa (UNITE 2030's Executive Director) announced the 2nd place winner. I got my phone to record the winner, but I immediately started crying when I heard our team's name winning First Place among 200 talented young people from more than 60 countries."
24
TRACK 13:
CLIMATE ACTION 6 NEW ENTREPRENURIAL SOLUTIONS
CHALLENGES SOLVED:
SOLAR PROJECT FINANCING CARBON EMISSIONS CAUSED BY FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN DEFORESTATION CONSUMER BEHAVIORAL CHANGE CLIMATE IMPACTS ON SMALL-SCALE FARMERS
25
Meet SDG 13 Camper: Adam Folland "My advice to future Campers is to get to know your team. It wasn't until nearly the end of the week, where we dug into each team members' experiences and history that we actually narrowed into our problem and what we wanted to solve. We jumped right into the expectations and methods provided to us, but learning and listening to each other, outside of the recommended outline, was where we really made the most progress."

UNITE 2030 AT UNITE 2030 is part of the UN Foundation's Global Goals Week partner coalition, a group of over 170+ partners from civil society, academia, the public and private sectors who unite each September in alignment with the UN General Assembly in New York for a month-long initiative called Global Goals Week. Through our coalition, Camp 2030 is officially part of Global Goals Week, giving Campers who stay in New York City after Camp 2030 is finished the opportunity to attend events that are part of Climate Week, Global Goals Week, and other related initiatives. This past year, UNITE 2030 nominated outstanding Campers to attend the Gates' Foundation annual Goalkeepers Award Ceremony (seen pictured above). 35
2023: A LOOK AT THE YEAR AHEAD
36
2023 - New York Over 300 youth leaders from around the world will gather in September, descending on the hub for sustainable development - New York City. Together they will travel 4 hours upstate to a town called Warrensburg, nestled in the heart of the Lake George area of Adirondack National Park, where they will spend the week innovating, collaborating, and co-creating solutions for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Guided by mentors and world-class experts, Campers will work their way through our proven innovation process, a self-guided, "learn-by-doing" model - reaching checkpoints, or "Gates" along the way identify a specific global challenge, iterating, prototyping, and developing their idea into 3 deliverables: an Action Plan, a 3-minute pitch, and an Expo presentation. On the final night of Camp 2030, Campers will return together to New York City, where they will, the following day, pitch their newly developed business models to a panel of expert judges, and at the Expo of our SDG Solutions Hub. The winning teams from each thematic area, or "Track" will pitch their solutions on a global stage, with the top 3 teams winning support to bring their ideas to life after Camp.
Community at Camp 2030 Camp is equally about community as it is about innovation. We believe that a global perspective made up of international views is needed to understand global challenges, and that a global solution requires an understanding of cultural norms, patterns, values and lived experiences. We also know that global support network is invaluable in helping our Changemakers expand their world views, thus becoming more effective problem solvers, and more confident leaders.
