Student Reporters at Byron Writers Festival

Each year students have the opportunity to gain experience covering a major event as reporters and content creators at the Byron Writers Festival. From politics to intersectionality to climate change, our student reporting team covers the progressive and dynamic discussions taking place on stage, creating stories and content for the Byron Writers Festival blog and social media. They might even get to interview a famous author for the SCU Buzz Podcast, recorded inside the Southern Cross Electric Kombi.

Student Blake Skuse covered the 2022 Festival and interviewed Stella Prize-winner and poet Evelyn Araluen for the SCU Buzz podcast. He said it was a fantastic experience. “I learnt so much from such a wide range of people. Talking to Evelyn, she was just great because she had so many different bits of inspiration,” he said.
