Outstanding demands were placed on the builder to ensure the utmost of silence between homes. The party wall (or demising wall) is over 1 foot thick, and includes not only 4 sheets of special sound-proofing drywall applied with noise-proofing compound, along with acoustical Roxul insulation, but also a crucial 3” air gap. The objective: one of the highest performance walls possible, with an STC rating of an astonishing 72.
While typical “2 by 4s” will do, Relmar has been framed with premium oriented strand lumber. This product provides superior dimensional stability, meaning it’s less prone to warping or twisting. What’s more it’s perfectly straight - allowing for the quality of drywall application that a modern home of this calibre deserves. It results in crisp white walls, perfectly built.
Even the smallest water line can create unwanted noise. Here, the water supply for the kitchen fridge is sonically isolated in a rubber sheath, ensuring that even when ice is being made, you won’t hear a thing.
THE “GAP”
WRAPPED FOR QUIET

Because you really don’t want to hear your neighbours, the demising wall of the homes has been built to the highest possible standards. A continuous air gap exists between the houses, insulating you from the sounds next door. Nothing absorbs sound better than air, and this unique framing approach will ensure your quiet comfort of the home.
Nobody likes to hear the taps run, or a toilet flush. That’s why all of the homes plumbing (and radiant supplies) have been carefully wrapped in sound isolating material. This will dramatically reduce the sounds of running water, and lead to a quieter, more peaceful interior.
Warmth and energy-efficiency are key components of comfortable living and Relmar has received spray-foam insulation on all outside walls. This superior approach to insulation (over convention ‘batt’ insulation) provides a higher insulation factor and a tighter home envelope, improving comfort and air quality.
