JMA students attend state Beta conference Sixteen Senior National Beta Club members from John Milledge Academy attended the Beta state conference in Atlanta with the motto ‘a volunteer state of mind.’ Students spent the weekend participating in scholarship and scholastic competitions, attending leadership workshops, and voting for their 2012 state board. The JMA quiz bowl team consisting of Cody Palmer, Anna Avant, Gavin Kopel and Granger Harpe even made it to the second round of playoffs. Sponsor Jessica Jones and chaperone Traci Grant were most excited about the enthusiasm that the students brought back to their club, full of ideas and volunteer possibilities for next year to exemplify the club’s motto of ‘lead by serving others.’
