OUR PROMISE

We are a team of experienced and attentive partners who will answer your questions and advise you on every detail of your ceremony and reception. Along with one of our day-of wedding coordinators, we will be your liaison every step of the way, ensuring you are comfortable and confident with every single detail. Most importantly, you can trust us to always remember that this is your special day! You will get our best advice, but we promise to never forget that it’s your vision that ultimately matters most.

THE SETTING

Constructed around the turn of the last century, the building that is now the Union Mills Public House was once home to a thriving textile and knitting factory. For more than 125 years, the Union Knitting Mills Building figured prominently in America’s industrial history and served as one of the largest employers in Frederick.

The Union Mills Kitting Factory stood vacant for many years, but interest in the historic property was finally renewed when

Downtown Frederick’s beautiful and picturesque Carroll Creek Linear Park was built mere feet from its exterior. During the historic building’s meticulous renovation, restauranteurs Mary Custer and Niko Negas were inspired to repurpose the former factory into an unforgettable wedding venue where one-of-a-kind moments could be celebrated and lifelong memories made.

THE SPACE

Union Mills Public House combines a historic setting with an industrial-chic vibe that is truly one-of-a-kind. Mary and Niko have reimagined the former textile mill’s industrial past with sophisticated elegance, providing a warm and welcoming backdrop for all types of weddings.

This historic 19th-century landmark has been stylishly restored with an elegant aesthetic that makes it unique among wedding venues. The combination of original brickwork and wood accents along with contemporary lighting, highlighted by two Spanish-made chandeliers in the center of the space, creates a timeless charm.

CATERING

We offer a wide range of full-service food and beverage options with custom menus available, all prepared on-site in our commercial kitchen. Off-site catering services are permitted (with an additional fee.) We also have a liquor license and will be pleased to serve your guests a full selection of cocktails and beverages.

Additionally, we can even create specialized custom-designed drinks just for you!

Our certified bartenders are happy to concoct cocktails specifically tailored to your tastes, and they can even feature the names of those who are part of your wedding party. Imagine enjoying a “Jennifer Juniper on the Rocks,” or a “Mark’s Martini,” – we’ll even shake it & not stir it, of course!

AMENITIES

INDOOR & OUTDOOR SPACES

Located alongside Carroll Creek, two outdoor seating areas are available for hosting your outdoor ceremony, reception, or cocktail hour. If you decide to host guests outside and would like a tent covering the area, we have a few vendors we can suggest for tent rentals.

ON-SITE COMMERCIAL KITCHEN

The Union Mills catering staff will prepare your food on-site so it’s hot, fresh, and ready to serve. The kitchen can also be used by other caterers, should you choose to use your own.

FULL-SERVICE FOOD & BEVERAGES

We offer a wide range of full-service food and beverage options with custom menus available, all prepared on-site in our commercial kitchen.

AMPLE PARKING FOR GUESTS AND VENDORS

We have a small parking lot that your vendors can use next to the building, making it easy for them to load and unload. For your guests, we offer a few parking spaces nearby, as well as a 5-story parking garage just a short walk down the creek.

EXTENDED RENTAL TIMES (AFTER 11 PM)

COMING IN 2023

BRIDAL SUITE

Coming soon to our space will be the addition of an on-site bridal suite, which will be available for you to use to prepare for the ceremony itself. This will be the perfect space to put on your gown, do your hair, and have your make-up applied. This space can also be used as a post-ceremony / pre-reception space where the newly married couple can enjoy a few moments of alone time together before greeting their guests at the reception.

EXPANSION

We’re not done yet! Union Mills still has room to grow, as we will be adding another 2,200 sq. ft. venue space, allowing even more flexibility when planning your upcoming wedding and reception.
