The warm weather has finally arrived here in Northeast, Ohio! The course has been busy and tournament participation has been wonderful. You, the Members, make these events special and your participation mean the world to us. We would also like to thank you for your continued support of the Professional Shop. The Memorial Day Balloon sale was a tremendous success! We always want to provide the best brands and products for you to choose from.
We would like to welcome our golf operations intern, Morgan Hughes. Morgan is joining us from Penn West University, California. She just finished her Junior year there. Morgan has tremendous golf operations experience from working the Masters tournament, the Wells Fargo, and the Memorial at Muirfield. Here are a few June golf updates:
1. The start time on weekdays will remain 8:00AM, and the start time on weekends goes to 7:00AM.
2. Registrations are still open for the Medina Cup Member-Member, Whack & Snack, and Baseball Best Ball.
3. The 2023 Invitational letter is being sent the first week in June. The sign-up will open that week as well.
4. We are currently booking outings on Monday’s. The outings will be added to the calendar when they are booked.
5. Please continue to respect your golf course by replacing divots, fixing ball marks, and keeping carts out of wet areas.
6. Continue to post all 9- and 18-hole rounds. Scores can only be posted when playing with another player or players.

June brings us sunshine and amazing weather to enjoy all parts of the Club. After an unbelievable Memorial Day weekend, we look forward to providing a June to remember here at the Club with amazing food and drinks, and events for the entire family to enjoy. Memorial Day marks the opening of the pool for the season. Please bring out family members and guests to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
Chef Greg has purchased new grills and smokers to provide everyone with his incredible top-notch food, these both will be on full display all summer long including our Friday Steak Nights. Choose from an amazing array of proteins and enjoy this new experience here at the Club. There will also be a salad bar and baked potato bar to make Steak Night spectacular. We are going to move half priced bottles of wine to Wednesday Night’s and keep the Thursday Night half priced burgers going throughout the summer. Come out and enjoy these specials.
June 13th we will host another lady's Wine and Sip with Bree from Bumble Bree Art. Bree is an amazing instructor and keeps the night fun for all the participants. Saturday, June 17th we will present the Summer Whack and Snack. This fun couple's event will give everybody a chance to unwind on the course while enjoying some cold drinks and outstanding food. Guests are always welcome for couples’ events, and we can't wait to see everyone have an awesome time.
The A-Frame will now be open Wednesday-Sundays throughout the summer. We will have a full complement of drinks, sandwiches, and snacks so nobody goes hungry or thirsty while enjoying a beautiful day on the course.
Lastly, as many of you know we have hired a new Locker Room Attendant, his name is Larry Crawshaw. Larry has many years of experience at Clubs and can't wait to become part of the family here at Medina. If you need your shoes cleaned or some new spikes, see Larry. Larry is at the Club Tuesdays through Saturdays. Live music will also be making a return very shortly so keep an eye out for dates and times. I hope to see everyone out enjoying all aspects of the Club. Have a wonderful June!

I would like to take this opportunity to give the membership a brief update on the golf course from a maintenance standpoint. Much of our focus right now is the general maintaining of the golf course on a daily basis, which includes mowing greens, fairways, tees, and roughs, changing pin locations, and raking bunkers. Also, we have been focused on improving the flower beds and mulching those areas. We have also been repairing water leaks and will continue to pursue them as our irrigation system is key to a successful grow-in at the new driving range. Much of my time is spent at the driving range which is moving forward rapidly. June will be a fun month as the range project nears an end and we can start growing grass at the academy.

June is the month when our programs get into full swing. The programs have grown from last year and they booked up fast.
We doubled the size of both the ladies' clinics and the couples' clinic and we currently have over 300 junior golfers registered for our various junior programs.
Given the increase in participation and the new programs that we have planned for fall and winter, we have added some staff to our Academy team. As previously announced, Trevor Hazen, PGA, joined our team in April. His energy and enthusiasm are already having an impact.
We are also happy to announce the addition of two recent college graduates as Assistant Golf Professionals. Jake Jeske graduated from the University of Dayton, and Matt Wise graduated from The Ohio State University. They are both very excited to join the team at Medina Country Club and begin their journey toward PGA membership.
We appreciate the support of all the members of Medina Country Club . We can't wait to show you the possibilities that the Academy building holds for you.
