A LETTER from Rob P.

Dear Members,

Fall — the most underrated season to play golf outside — has finally arrived. The days are still long enough to get your rounds in, and the weather is not so sweltering that you want to call it after four holes. It is, as far as golf scenes go, about as pleasant and enjoyable as it gets in most parts of the country. We are looking forward to seeing the leaves turn red, yellow and orange and play some golf on the course.

You may have noticed a lot of changes on the course in the past 45 days. We took down 610 trees in preparation forthe academy and future layout of the course. The heavy equipment machines have moved close to 60,000 yardsof dirt in arrangement to lay the foundation for the Jim Wise Academy and new driving range.

Our course Superintendent, Dave Hershey, and his team have been busy aerating the greens, fairways and tee boxes. This is the first time in 10 years the course pulled plugs in the fairways. We are excited to see the course breath better and grow stronger roots!

In the kitchen, every Sunday in the month of October from 12-5pm, we will be running a Burger & Fries special for $8. Come join us to watch the Browns or your favourite football team on Sundays!

The Golf Professionals are finishing up a busy season with our final 2 events: Ladies Guest Day and the Medina Cup. We had 40 ladies play in Ladies Guest Day, and the Medina Cup finished up a successful golf season. The Golf Professionals are busy meeting with vendors, pre-booking merchandise for spring and planning both the Men’s and Women’s Golf schedules for 2023 season.

In the clubhouse, we are hosting eight private events in the months of October and November. We are excited to host all our members, families and friends over the next two months.

In the background, the leadership team is already preparing for 2023 season. We will have new communications to share with the members over the next few months.

Please accept my sincere thank you for your support as a member of Medina Country Club this past season. Rob Preseren General Manager

JIM WISE GOLF ACADEMY

We are wrapping up the summer and getting ready for fall golf. With the driving range now closed, we have set up three hitting bays in the Academy studio for members to use for warm up or to practice. Stop in any time to check it out.

In September, we wrapped up our PGA Junior League programs. We are proud to report that three Medina PGA Junior League all-star teams made it to the Region 4 Championships, only one step away from the National Championships. The competition was held at Milham Park Golf Course in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on September 3rd & 4th. Region 4 consists of teams from the Northern Ohio, Southern Ohio, Michigan and TriState (Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia & Northwest Maryland) PGA Sections. Of the eight 13U teams competing, two of them were from Medina Country Club (we had ¼ of the field!). Of the five 17U teams competing, Medina was also represented by Team Medina CC.

All three of the teams, Medina Deegan, Medina Union and 17U Medina CC played well on day 1 and qualified for the Regional semifinals on day 2. They all played well, with two of the matches coming down to the last hole. Unfortunately, none of them qualified for the finals. We are so proud of all of the kids who played throughout the season! They represented Medina Country Club well.

Private lessons from Jim will continue throughout the year. When the weather gets cold, Jim will move lessons indoors to the hitting studio (the old pro shop). For members, you can now pay for private lessons by charging to your member account.

To schedule a lesson, please contact us at jimwisegolfacademy@gmail.com or 216-456-7318.

GOLF PROFESSIONALS updates

It’s hard to believe that we have already reached September, fall and football season will be here before we know it! With that being said, this summer has been very exciting in more ways than one. The tournament season has been fantastic, and your participation makes the events great. We have a few major events left on the 2022 Schedule, the NFL Scramble, Ladies Guest Day and the Medina Cup Member-Member. You can register for all events through the Golf Genius portal on the Medina Country Club website. Also, congratulations to all of our Club Champions! It was a great event, and thank you for your participation!

You may have noticed the tree removal during your rounds. Removing some of these trees has really opened up beautiful views and has helped showcase some of the beautiful features of the property that our course sits on. It also helps the overall health of the turf by allowing for more sunlight and proper air flow throughout the course. This is a part of phase one of the capital improvement project for Medina.

Here are a couple important notes for September:

All play will start at 8:30AM on weekdays and 8:00AM on weekends. Following Labor Day, the club will be closed on Mondays.

I also wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support of the Professional Shop. It has been a great year for merchandising with our new logo. We have great late summer and fall items arriving soon so be sure to stop in!

See you on the links!

Sincerely,

The Professional Staff
