Men’s Opening Day Scramble: April 22nd

10:00 AM Start Time

The Men’s Opening Day Scramble kicks off our 2023 tournament season! The Professional Staff selects foursomes to encourage fellowship among new and existing members. The format is a four-man scramble, with various skill events on the golf course. This year, we will do a betting game on hole #14.

Old Pal Qualifier: May 6th

9:00 AM Start Time

The Old Pal tournament has been a staple at Medina Country Club for many years. Members will choose their partners for this event. The 18-hole qualifier determines the seeding for the match play portion of the event. The Qualifier is a better ball of partners, with each player receiving 90% of their handicap. We will take the top 31 teams and seed them accordingly based on their qualifying score.

The match play format is better ball of partners. All handicaps will be played off the low handicap of the foursome. Matches and rounds will be completed until the overall Champions are crowned, and each round must be played by the designated deadline date.

Medina Cup Member-Member: June 10

9:00 AM Start Time Both Days th-11th

The Medina Cup is our premier Member-Member tournament of the golf season. Members will pick their own partners when they register for this event. The Medina Cup is played over two days with a different format for each day. Day 1 is a better ball of partners, with each player receiving 90% of their individual handicap. Round 2 is a modified alternate shot at 40% combined. The team with the lowest two-day aggregate score will be crowned the Medina Cup Champions.

Baseball Best Ball: June 24th

9:00 AM Start Time

Baseball Best Ball is a long-standing event here at Medina Country Club. Much like the MLB, we will have a National League and American leagues in this event. Each league will be made up of 4-man teams that will compete within their league and earn a spot in the World Series Shootout! The format for the league play is a Best 2 of 4, with players receiving 90% of their individual handicaps. Teams will be formed using an ABCD Golf Genius draw.

The World Series consists of a one-hole shootout. The format remains the same as a Best 2 of 4 Net. If the two balls tie, we use the 3rd ball. If still tied, we use the 4th. The two teams that win the league championships play for the World Series! The losing teams will play for 3rd place!

2023 Invitational: July 20th - 22nd

The Medina Invitational is our premier Member-Guest event here at Medina Country Club. The Invitational provides a wonderful opportunity for Members to show their guests the best that Medina Country Club has to offer. The Invitational kicks off on Thursday, July 20th, with a 9-hole practice round, Match 1, and the Men’s Stag Dinner. On Friday, July 21st, matches 2 and 3 will be played along with the formal dinner for Players and Spouses taking place that evening. The event concludes on Saturday, July 22nd, with matches 4 & 5, plus the “Final Shootout” to crown our overall Invitational Champions.

The format for this event is five 9-hole Better Ball matches. Matches are played within flights. Flights are based on the combined handicap index of the 2-man teams. The team that wins the most points over the five nine-hole matches will advance to the “Final Shootout” to crown the Invitational Champions.

Medina SWAT: August 12th

1:00 PM Start Time

The SWAT Member-Guest is a unique one-day tournament. A member can bring 1-3 guests with no guest fees! The only requirement for this event is that the host members must purchase lunch and dinner for their guests. The SWAT features a fun team format and unique skill events out on the golf course. It is a great way to show off Medina to your guests & friends!

Club Championship: August 26th-27th

9:00 AM Start Time Both Days

The Club Championship is the tournament to put your game on display at Medina Country Club. Our membership features great players with the ultimate competitive spirit. To make the tournament fair and equitable for all, the tournament will feature 3 flights. The Championship flight for our 0-7 Handicaps, the A flight for 8-14 Handicaps, and the B flight for the 15 and over Handicaps. The format for the event is stroke play, with a gross and net winner in each flight!

NFL Scramble: September 16th

9:00 AM Start Time

The NFL Scramble is a great golf-related event to welcome the new 2023 NFL season. The format for the NFL Scramble is a 4-man strategy scramble. All players tee off, and one drive is selected for further play. The player’s shot that is selected is not eligible to hit the next shot. This process continues until the ball is holed. A player’s tee shot can be used a maximum of 6 times. Teams will be made up using a Golf Genius ABCD Blind Draw. An Owner’s game also takes place in this event. A player or an outside party can purchase teams.

The Purple & Green Ryder Cup: September 30th - October 1st

Sept 30th 1:00 PM | Oct 1st 9:00 AM

This Fall event is brand new to Medina Country Club! The Ryder Cup will consist of Purple and Green teams. The event will be played over 2 days with a different match-play format each day. The team with the most points over the two days will be crowned Champions of the inaugural Medina Purple & Green Ryder Cup!

Ladies’ & Couples Golf Schedule

Ladies’ Spring Day: April 29th

10:00 AM Start Time

Ladies’ Spring Day kicks off the 2023 Ladies’ tournament season. The format for this event is a 4-person scramble. A Member can bring 1-3 guests. The theme for this year’s event will be a Disco theme. An award is always given to the best-dressed group! Breakfast and Lunch will be served, with a themed snack at the A-Frame.

Mixed Twilight: May 19th

5:30PM Start Time

The Mixed Twilight is an event for Members and Guests. This Mixed Couples nine-hole twilight is the perfect night out, combining great company with great food and drinks! Twilights historically start at 5:00 PM shotgun, with dinner and cocktails to follow golf. This event will have a fun format that is great for players of all skill levels!

Summer Whack & Snack: June 17th

5:30PM Start Time

Summer Fun in the Sun is the foundation of our Summer Whack & Snack event. Fine dining and cocktails are the goals for this fun evening. The format for the Whack & Snack is a 4-person, 9-hole scramble starting at 5:00 PM. Members are encouraged to invite guests to participate in this event. This year’s event will feature a world-class putting contest and s’mores bar!

Ladies Night! Wine and Nine: July 1st

5:30PM Start Time

The 1st Wine and Nine of the season features a free, 20-minute clinic before teeing off. This is a wonderful opportunity to fine-tune your game before the evening’s festivities! This evening includes a fun format, fun skill events, a world-class wine tasting, heavy hors d oeuvres, and live entertainment!

Summer Nine and Dine! September 1st

5:30PM Start Time

This event will be Island themed and will feature the same format as past seasons. Golf will start at 5:30 PM. Margaritas and a Taco bar will be featured in this year’s event! Wear your best island shirt and glasses to have a shot at winning the best-dressed prize!

Ladies Fall Day September 22nd

12:00PM Start Time

Fall will be in the air! Ladies’ Fall Day is our premier Ladies’ Guest Day. A member can bring 1-3 guests to participate in this year’s event. Lunch and Dinner will be served before and after golf. The format will be a net scramble, with various skill events out on the golf course. Ladies’ Fall Day will also feature a trunk show to show off new products from various vendors!
