Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company Donates Fire Truck to NY Department Devastated by Sandy Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company donated a 1988 Pierce Arrow Fire Engine to the Broad Channel Fire Department in Queens, New York, to help with damage from Hurricane Sandy. The superstorm destroyed all of the department’s fire apparatus, equipment, and gear. The donated fire engine was transported by flatbed truck up to New York at a cost of $2,400. The company is working in conjunction with Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund, which is paying for the shipping costs. If anyone would like to donate to help cover the costs of the shipping, they can send a check to the “Terry Farrell Fire Fighters Fund, 1912 Wantagh Ave, Wantagh, NY 11793 or go to www.terryfund.org. BPVFC officials say the donated fire engine had been for sale since they purchased a new fire truck back in January. Even with the sale price dropping below $10,000, they were not able to sell the 24-year-old fire engine due to the small market for such a vehicle.

Members of the South Hills Area Referral Exchange (S.H.A.R.E.) met October 25 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Peter’s township for the group’s first ReunionRecruitment Breakfast Event.

By Carlo Bonadio

For a group of 12 business owners and leaders, Thursday morning breakfast at Rolling Hills Country Club in Peter’s Township is an anticipated and welcomed part of their busy weekly schedule. Since 1991, members of the South Hills Area Referral Exchange, or S.H.A.R.E., have been reaping the rewards and benefits of this unique and significant networking group. Members take seriously the group’s guidelines: regular attendance and participation (each week one member provides a presentation), referrals (leads) for the other members, and recruitment. These strict practices have resulted in multiple opportunities such as new business sales, powerful friendships, and a con-

sistent and positive exchange of ideas. On Thursday October 25, S.H.A.R.E. held its first Reunion-Recruitment Breakfast Event. The networking group opened the meeting to past members and invited guests for an enjoyable program that allowed each guest and member to mingle and “share fond memories and speak about their business before the group. Motivational speaker Ken Sevik provided expert guidance on productivity and the art of closing sales. S.H.A.R.E. allows only one business category among its members. Prospective members attend a meeting as a guest and submit an application, and members vote. For more information, visit www.shareleads.com or contact S.H.A.R.E. President George DeFazio at 412-952-4004.
