Finleyville Giant Eagle Petitions for a Liquor License By Paul Chasko
An advertised public hearing held last month heard testimony as to the transfer of a liquor license to Mon Valley Foods – owner and operator of the Giant Eagle store in Union Township just South of Finleyville. After hearing testimony, the UT Board passed a resolution permitting the transfer of the license. The public hearing was very lightly attended by UT residents. Before taking testimony, UT Solicitor Dennis Makel entered proof that the hearing had prior public notification as required by law. Representatives of
Mon Valley Foods were in attendance with their attorney, who is handling the details of the license transfer. The UT Board’s questions generated a fairly detailed presentation by Mon Valley Foods, which included the following information (part of the hearing record). The Finleyville Giant Eagle store is undertaking a renovation that includes a 32-seat cafÊ in which food and alcoholic beverages will be served (if they obtain a liquor license transfer). A store layout was presented indicating the location of the cafÊ. The license they hope to acquire (See Finleyville Giant Eagle, page 9) 8:
