Elizabeth Township Area Hosts EMS Awards Night Thursday, September 15, 2016 was an exciting night for Elizabeth Township Area EMS. In addition to taking delivery of a new ambulance, the organization was presented with two very prestigious recognitions. The first of these was presented by Alexander Kuhn of the American Heart Association (AHA). Mr. Kuhn presented the organization with a special recognition associated with the AHA’s Mission Lifeline Project (heart.org) for providing superior care for patients experiencing cardiac emergencies. The second award was presented by Curtis Neill of UPMC Prehospital Care. Mr. Neill spoke on behalf of the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (caas.org) and presented ETA-EMS with their Certificate of National Accreditation for meeting the highest standards of the EMS industry.

Mon Valley YMCA to Host John Barbero Memorial Auction and Vendor Show on October 30 The Mon Valley YMCA proudly invites you to the John Barbero Memorial Auction sponsored by the Pittsburgh Penguins and Highway Appliance. Tickets are $5 each and will be available at the YMCA in advance and at the door. The event will be held Sunday, October 30, 2016, 12:30 – 3 p.m., in the YMCA gymnasium. We will have many pieces of great sports & celebrity memorabilia, home goods & services, sporting event tickets, plus much more up for auction. All proceeds from this event will benefit our Youth and Teen Programs as well as fund the John Barbero Scholarship Fund. Each year, the Y serves children of all

ages from all over the Mon Valley region through programs such as child care, teen leaders, youth swimming lessons, summer camp, academic support group and Teen Leaders. The event will feature give-aways on the half-hour, a live auction, special feature sports items, and a variety of vendors. There will also be 100+ silent auction items, a Chinese auction, lottery trees, etc. Refreshments will be on hand, and there are activities planned just for kids as well.
