DIGITAL DO-OVER Chamber's Annual "Easy to be Green" Event Successful The Mon Valley Regional Chamber’s “Easy to be Green” day held on August 15 was a busy and productive day. The largest amount of e-waste ever collected Workers from General Industries and Goodwill unload unwanted electronics for recycling. by the Chamber was calculated to be 9,400 pounds. Goodwill of Southwestern PA, a leader in the nationwide effort to deal with the fast-growing problem called “e-waste,” will refurbish and recycle the donated computers. Through the Chamber’s “Easy to be Green” event, two truckloads of recyclable goods were collected and kept out of landfills! Also collected throughout the day was used clothing for Goodwill, eyeglasses for Lion’s International, and books for the J.K. Tener Library. The Chamber also has Abitibi Paper Retrieval bins, which are available for recyclable paper collection every day.

2012 Mingo Creek County Park Fall Hayrides The Washington County Department of Parks & Recreation will be offering group hayrides this fall in Mingo Creek County Park. Dates for the 2012 Mingo Creek County Park Hayrides are Friday, October 12; Saturday, October 13; Friday, October 19; Saturday, October 20; Friday, October 26; and Saturday, October 27. The Friday evening hayrides scheduled for October 12, 19 and 26 are available from 5-8 p.m. Hayrides scheduled on Saturday, October 13 are available from 6-8 p.m. Hayrides scheduled for Saturday, October 20 and Saturday, October 27 are available from 1-8 p.m. Hayrides are approximately 50 minutes in length. The haywagon can accommodate approximately 25 people per hour. The use of a picnic shelter and a fire circle for two hours before or after the scheduled hayride is also provided. The cost is $50 per hayride. Hayrides book quickly. Call the Washington County Parks & Recreation Office at 724-228-6867 for available times. Mingo Creek County Park is located 12 miles east of Washington off of Route 136.
