Giving Chase A Chance

Bike Run & Social Gathering Fundraiser to Help Victim of Child Abuse

A Bike Run and Social Gathering ‘Giving Chase A Chance’ will take place on Saturday, May 6 at the Uniontown American Legion Post 51. Chase is a victim of child abuse, and suffers from a severe brain injury, blindness and he cannot walk or talk. All proceeds raised from the event will go toward Chase’s medical needs. Registration is from 9:00AM – 11:45AM, with kickstands up at 12 noon. Registration fee is $15 for Driver and $10 for Passenger. A social gathering will start at approximately 5:00PM. All cars, trucks, and any legal road vehicles are welcome. If you are unable to participate in the run, please come and join us at the social gathering and eat for just $10 per person. Vendor, Craft Show and Kid’s Carnival in Rostraver Twp.

A Vendor, Craft Show and Kids Carnival will be held at Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, on Saturday, May 6 from 9:30 am - 2:00 pm. There will also be a Bake Sale, lunch items for sale, and a basket raffle. The event will be held inside and outside with over 30 crafters. The Kids Carnival will have face painting, games, popcorn and much more. All proceeds benefit the Deacons for our many community projects and Rehoboth Nursery School. Monessen VFW Post 1190 to Hold Monthly Meeting

The Monessen VFW Post 1190 will hold their monthly meeting on May 4 at 7:00 PM at the Monessen Fire Dept #1, meeting room on Donner Ave. in Monessen. All members are urged to attend. Anyone interested in joining the VFW is welcome to attend. The VFW meets at this location the first Thursday of every month. ‘World Tour of Chocolate’ Returns to Monongahela – May 13

Good news for chocolate lovers! The Third Annual ‘World Tour of Chocolate’ will be held in Monongahela on Saturday, May 13, from 12 noon to 4:00PM. This fun and delicious event is sponsored by the Monongahela Main Street Program in partnership with able and enthusiastic volunteers of Ringgold Girl Scout Troop 52430. There will be contests, prizes, raffles, balloons, samples, games and costumed characters. Shop with participating merchants and restaurants (Don’t forget May 14 is Mother’s Day!!!) and they will provide a raffle ticket with your purchase. Each ticket gives you a chance to win a sumptuous, scrumptious, chocolate-themed gift basket! The raffle drawing will be held at 4:00PM, at 3rd & W. Main Streets. Enjoy visiting the many shops and vendors as you experience anything chocolate or chocolate themed. Free to participate. Visit the booth at 3rd & Main from 12 Noon – 4:00PM. US Steel SOAR to Host Deputy Sherriff at May Meeting

Attention all US Steel SOAR members of Chapter 15-7 who normally meet at the Local 2227 United Steelworkers Union Hall at 1301 Philip Murray Rd. in West Mifflin, on the first Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be held on May 2, and will begin at 1:00PM sharp. Our guest speaker will be Deputy Sheriff Jason Tarap from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department. The Deputy will speak on current happenings and how to keep safe and protect yourself and loved ones. The Deputy is always very informative and amusing. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer period. We hope you can be with us for this meeting. If you know anyone who normally attends our meetings, please pass this information along to them. We hope to see our members there and please feel free to bring a friend, neighbor or loved one. We would also like to extend an invitation to anyone age 45 or older to join us and see what our group is about. If you enjoy our meetings, then we would invite you to join our group. Come and enjoy a cup of coffee and a donut or cookie and have a little fun.

RJ Sokol Memorial Golf Outing Slated for August 19

Currently Seeking Golfers and Door Prize Donations

The RJ Sokol 3rd Annual Memorial Golf Outing will be held this year on Saturday, August 19th at 8:00AM at The Madison Club. This years golf outing will benefit two volunteer fire departments – the North Belle Vernon, and Sewickley Twp. RJ himself was a lifelong Volunteer firefighter and knew that when the alarm went off at 3:00AM, ‘All Volunteer’ meant someone somewhere was getting out of bed to go help someone they didn’t know in need. All proceeds will be split equally between both companies. RJ passed away in 2021 due to Covid 19. He is best known for the North Belle Vernon Community Bank Park off of I-70.

The golf outing is $400 for a foursome and includes 8:00AM 4-person scramble, shotgun start, food at the turn, 12:30PM buffet dinner, welcome gift, prizes and snack/drinks on all Par 3’s, prizes on all holes, and every golfer gets a door prize!

We are looking for hole sponsors for $100 and $200 and golfers as well as donations for door prizes and items for our Chinese Auction. For more information please contact Lynn Sokol 724-929-2749.

Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish is holding its Spring Fest ‘New 2 U Rummage Pre-Sale’ Event on Saturday, May 6 from 9:00am to 1:00pm at Saint Pius X Hall on the campus of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church located at 1 Grove Place in Pleasant Hills. Admission is $5 per person and all items are cash-only. There will be a large assortment of antiques and collectibles along with jewelry, household items, toys, games, puzzles, tools, holiday decor, and much more.
