Celebrating Scholarships 2024 - 2025
UEA has always been proud to do different.
At UEA we encourage every student to ask tough questions and challenge norms. Here, everyone’s contributions are valued. We celebrate difference and we don’t allow a person’s background to hold them back.
Prof David Maguire Vice-Chancellor and President
Student experience and achievement are at the heart of what we do. The University has global reach and global impact, and we could not have come so far, so quickly, without philanthropic support. It has shaped and enriched the University in many ways – notably, in supporting students through scholarships. Today, donors fund 52 scholarships and in these pages we celebrate current scholars and the generosity that helps them thrive. 4
Philanthropy will also play an essential part in the challenging years ahead. Our new, multi-year fundraising campaign is our boldest yet. Dare to Do Different is funding programmes in UEA’s key areas of excellence: Climate, Health, Creative and Campus. Together, we are working on solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems. Our fourth theme, Campus, encompasses the university environment and the student life it nurtures. We are enriching cultural life and reimagining learning and teaching spaces to enable new ways of studying and fresh modes of enquiry. Gifts from donors are bringing talented students to UEA through a wide variety of scholarships, hardship funding and targeted enterprise support that meet changing needs in a challenging world. Together we are changing the world. 5

Looking into that future, UEA has launched Strategy 2030. It holds true to the University’s original mission to ‘do different’ and to advance education and research for the public benefit. In these difficult times it provides a timely refresh, setting out what we will do, how we will do it and how we will measure progress. Strategy 2030 recognises that UEA has global reach and influence, and a responsibility to work for the benefit of the whole world. The Dare to Do Different campaign is a key part of this vision. It focuses on four areas where UEA excels, and we will focus on these to bring our community together in a drive to solve the most significant issues facing our changing world.
150
Our plans are ambitious and challenging. They’re also very exciting and we hope you’ll be with us on the journey.
