A Decade of SnT

2009

SnT is founded with Björn Ottersten as Director. First partners sign on – POST Luxembourg, Telindus, and SES.

2010

First European Summit on the Future Internet & first European Project.

2011

First patent filed. Four awards for best paper. Ten projects with ESA and the EU.

2012

We received the University’s First PEARL Grant from the FNR. Hosted the first Parternship Day.

2013

With more than 200 staff, we surpassed the original fiveyear target of 100 employees. Prof Yves Le Traon receives Google Faculty Research Award.

2014

First SnT spin-off, Motion-S, launches. Technology Transfer Office is created. Second FNR PEARL Chair.

2015

First ERC Grant. Hosted 20 th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA).

2016

Computer Science at the University of Luxembourg is ranked 21 st in Europe in the Times Higher Education Ranking. Second ERC Grant.

2017

Over 100 million euros in external funding. Our fourth spin-off launches.

2018

First partnerships in Legaltech (Linklaters) and Insurtech (Foyer). 100 best papers and individual awards. Third ERC Grant.

2019

Interdisciplinary Space Master is introduced. PayPal-FNR PEARL Chair in Digital Financial Services launches.
