2 University of Niagara Falls Canada
University of Niagara Falls Canada acknowledges that it is located on land that is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Hatiwendaronk, and Anishinaabe peoples. We also acknowledge the many other First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples who call this region home. We commit to building relationships based on respect, reciprocity, and reconciliation as we work, learn, and gather on this land. Furthermore, we acknowledge that the Niagara region is situated on treaty land, and we stand with all Indigenous peoples, past and present, in promoting the wise stewardship of the lands on which we live.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Where big ideas take hold When I look at the collection of waterfalls that makeup the world-famous Niagara Falls, I see proof of what’s possible when curiosity meets courage. Over a century ago, the people who stood here looked at that same rush of water and asked a bold question: what if we could turn this into something more? Their answer changed the country and helped launch Canada’s industrial age. Raw energy was turned into real change. That’s the spirit I want you to feel the moment you join us. We’re a university built for where the Canadian workforce is headed, not where it’s been. Our degrees have a digital edge and are designed with input from the industries you want to work in. That means real employers telling us what skills actually matter right now, so what you’re learning today is what gets you hired tomorrow. I’ve met many students who arrive unsure of exactly where they’re heading and I’ve watched them leave with absolute clarity. UNF gave them the tools, the mentors, and the room to figure things out for themselves. And that’s what a university in a city like this one should do. We’re surrounded by a living reminder that big ideas don’t stay ideas for long. Like the mighty cataracts this city is named after, they inspire the innovations that change the world of tomorrow. I’m proud of what UNF has built, and I’m even more excited about what our students will build next. Innovation has always found a home here in Niagara Falls. I hope you will too.
David Gray President and Vice-Chancellor University of Niagara Falls Canada

The third-year HBSc Biomed student spent her summer gaining hands-on research experience in a hospital setting. She was able to contribute to educational models for the hospital, based on different protocols with her supervisor, giving her a glimpse into what her future holds. Additionally, Fathia gained hands-on exposure to clinical trial activities, including participant screening, clinical trial datarelated work, observing the informed consent process, and supported a scoping review through data extraction. “It’s not been done before in a hospital setting. There have been other educational models, but not ones done based on research. Student project spotlight:
Le CREXS Detecting vineyard disease with AI When Roberto Reyna, Carlos Juarez, and Emmanuel Santiago began the Master of Data Analytics program, they were focused on building technical skills. They ended up building a company. Their capstone project, Le CREXS, uses artificial intelligence to catch grapevine disease before it takes hold. Drawing on imagery from drones, mobile devices, tractors, and field inspections, the system feeds a growing database that trains an AI model to spot disease patterns, flag risk, classify infections, and map problem areas across a vineyard. For Niagara’s wine county, that kind of early warning can mean the difference between a strong harvest and a costly loss, while also cutting down on unnecessary pesticide use. The idea took root close to home, inspired by the vineyards dotting Niagara and by Roberto’s own experience overcoming cancer, which shaped his belief in the importance of early detection through data. That vision resonated well beyond the classroom: the team’s pitch earned a joint first-placefinish at an international business pitch competition in the UK, a milestone that turned an academic project into a genuine venture. Since then, the trio has sharpened their business skills through the Niagara Falls Innovation Hub, engaged local growers for feedback, and is now working toward a pilot project in the field, all while each graduated with a GPA above 4.0. Le CREXS is a testament to what happens when applied AI meets real-world challenges.

“I came to University of Niagara Falls Canada from Uzbekistan, and it has been one of the best decisions of my life. The university’s welcoming atmosphere made it easy to adjust to a new country and culture. Living in Niagara Falls has also been an unforgettable experience. I am proud to be a student here and would recommend UNF to anyone looking for quality education and personal growth.” Feruza Salaydinova Master of Management alumna
