SAGE is a non-profit organization focused on mentoring adolescent girls who are in underserved communities by providing resources and programs that give social awareness on issues such as teenage pregnancy, domestic violence, human trafficking, and body image, as well as having educational involvement and preparing them for professional/career development.

The Woman Behind the Organization

Tatiana Cooper, a Chicago native, founded Saving Adolescent Girls Everywhere Inc in 2018, in Baltimore, Maryland. After relocating to North Carolina and attending North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Cooper received her degree in Civil Engineering and worked in her career for 5 years. During her terms in both the government and private sectors she realized that she was not content with her workload within her career and would rather pursue her passion for advocacy for Every young girl deserves the opportunity to adolescents wishing to pursue STEM. become the most confident, healthy and stable versions of themselves. SAGE is here to lend a hand to the young women who need one when they don't know who else to turn to. SAGE was founded on the principals of Social Awareness, Educational Involvement, and Career/Professional Development in order to uplift the girls in need within our local communities.

Through our various programs that promote health and wellness, shipping boxed care packages or new mom assistance, SAGE is committed to providing to those in need.

This four-year program is currently being offered to high school girls ages 13-18 at select schools in the Raleigh area. We are currently accepting volunteer applications to assist with our outreach programs and effectively serving our community.

Through her advocacy and strenuous life experiences she realized that she had developed a passion for helping the youth with a variety of issues that were hindering the adolescent population from becoming successful. She had a desire to make a change and provide social awareness, educational, and professional development to adolescent girls in underserved communities and utilized that passion to create SAGE.

These programs can help adolescent girls, that may not otherwise have a support group, by providing them with a safe space within their community to make positive future-focused decisions, excel academically, and build a sisterhood that may benefit them for years to come.

Birgundi Baker

Birgundi Angel Baker is an American actress, singer, and dancer from Raleigh, North Carolina. Birgundi is a graduate of Howard University's Musical Theatre Program and has launched her impressive career in television as the co-star of Peacock’s “Praise This,” Fox's “Empire,” The CW's “Black Lightning,” and Showtime’s “The Chi.” Birgundi has been listed by Refinery29 as one of the "Top Actresses To Look Out For in 2018" and featured on the cover of Ebony Magazine in 2023. We are honored to have Birgundi headline the 2023 SAGE Gala & are thankful to contribution to Saving Adolescent Girls Everywhere.

Madison Gibbs

The former Miss Black USA 2015, and North Carolina native (by way of Raleigh and Greensboro), graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University & earned her law degree from Howard University School of Law. Upon graduating from law school, she completed a Judicial Clerkship at the District of Columbia Superior Court. She then went on to open her own law practice, “The Law Office of Madison N. Gibbs, PLLC” and joined Bynum & Jenkins Law of Alexandria, VA, as an associate, where she handles a variety of civil and criminal litigation matters in Virginia, D.C., and New York.

This nationwide speaker and advocate has been featured on Good Morning America; D.C. Fox 5, Essence, Allure, Rolling Out and Elle Magazines; and recently named to The Top 40 Under 40, National Black Lawyers of 2022.

Officer

Tommy Norman Officer Tommy Norman is a longtime patrolman/officer who has worked for the North Little Rock Police Department since 1998. Norman has received national attention for his actions concerning the people of his community, most notably his charitable actions toward the youth within his jurisdiction.

On October 15, 2021, it was announced that President Joe Biden will be presenting Officer Norman with the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, a highly honorable award given to those who give back to their communities through volunteerism. Norman is known for positive community policing. Norman's unorthodox approach to policing includes thousands of video posts, pictures and daily interactive engagement at the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Police Athletic League with those that he protects and serves.

He is credited for doing things like presenting 50 NLRSD students with backpacks and $50 gift cards from Shoe Carnival to purchase shoes, starting the “Shop with a Cop” program to help financially struggling students or just dancing with the children to bridge the gap between community and police.

We are honored to have Officer Norman speak at the 2023 SAGE Gala & are thankful for his contribution to Saving Adolescent Girls Everywhere.
